UPDATED: MAR 14, 2004 Re-rate from cask at Mahr, wasn't too pleased with bottled version - had a weird green banana note. Dough aroma. Dark golden, creamy head with lace. Big malt, yeasty and spicy flavor. Aromatic middle. Dry bitterhop finish. Fullbodied and nourisching.

On tap at the brewery. Pours clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of grainy malts. Taste is very moderate sweet malty, dry end, from some herbal and grassy hops. ok.

Yellow-gold, large white head; aroma is sweeter than the average helles, malt and sweet fruit; tastes much the same - again, much more flavour than a standard lager - a ripe orange/lemon fruitiness makes it stand out; quite bitter too, which is nice; earthy hops; an enjoyable all round summer winner.

Draught at the brewery, from a barrel I believe. Something went wrong with this beer. Undercarbonated. Smells like warm french toast. Terrible taste, like rotting plant matter. I think highly of Mahrs but this beer went terribly wrong. If I had not had it at the brewery, I would not have rated it at all.

Aroma is mildly sweet malts. The flavor is bread, malts, slight spice notes, citrus and a dryish finish.

On tap at Jester King. Pours a crystal clear gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has notes of cookie and sweet grains with a bit of underlying bread. Flavor has sweet grains and sweet biscuit throughout with a bit of earthy grain in the finish.

Poured a clear straw with a small white head. Aroma of grainy malt and grass and citrus. Medium body, flavour of the aroma, quite decent for the style.

Bottle at Moan and Dove poured into the mug you see in this picture. Pours a clear yellow urine color with a thick sudsy white head. Nose is bready, toasty, malty. Flavor is similar, the good thing about the Moan is that they never really served old or expired bottles so you knew you were getting it as fresh as you could, with B.United. playing a role in that as well. Solid helles, would like to try in Germany.

Draft @ Trion. Grainy malt and light grassy aroma. Clear yellow with a small white head. Bready, creamy barley malt and light grassy flavor. Light body, soft carbonation.

Gravity Keg at Churchkey event. Poured a clear light amber color, without much of a head to speak of. Aroma was some sweet malts, touch of toffee in there. Not a whole lot of hop presence here, mostly a light malt bomb.
