A Guinness pint glass provided an apropos vessel for this dubious dunkel... despite its lack of a cascade, Jubelfestbier provided a similar sepia body and a full, mocha head which fell slowly forming an intriguing reverse meniscus. An all-malt aroma procures low, roasty coffee notes amidst full dark fruit, earth and cookie. Semi-sweet chocolate flavor with pruney fruitiness carried in a smooth, full body. This is only slightly watery in the finish, although her flavor carries long. Slight mineral characteristics late. A delicious concoction, despite my assumption that this was going to be a Marzen due to its name. Plus, it cellared nicely for over a year. (And for those of you who may be questioning, the answer is: Yes. Possibly.) ))))) 1 pt. 9 fl. oz. bottle from <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/new-york/a Beverage, Albany, NY 12208

Pours deep chocolate brown with fluffy tan head. Nose is a touch of soy, and smoke from a BBQ? Flavor is malty, nutty, a little sugary, and quite a bit smokey. Dry clean finish is nice, but not a style or beer I would frequetly buy. (What the heck is a Dunkel?!)

brown color, sudsy tan head, some lace. aroma of sweet malt, dried fruit. flavor has sweet fruit notes, dry fruits, plums, hint of rosted malt and chocolate. medium body, sweet finish, a bit too sweet for me. sampled with cornfield, whiling away the time at his place.

bit underwhelming. sweet, but not overly so - was expecting that perhaps it would have been deeply malty and as with any beer perhaps complex. not exactly dry, but leaning that way from expectations. not lame, but other than the surprise in finding it on tap, completely unspectacular.

[Sampled draught at Bamberg Camping.] Nice tap look with good beige head and a wonderful aroma of caramel and weak roast. Other notes is nuts, toffee, wellcarbonated. Smooth and nice.

Deepest ruby, nice head. Nutty, roasty, moderately sweet aroma, dusty. Medium-bodied, moderately sweet. Some toast and roasty malts, nutty, with a trace of metal in the finish. Solid.

Swing top bottle. Pale tan head. Roasty caramel nose. Dark brown hue. This was on tap at the Moan & Dove in Amherst, MA a few moths back called Mahrs J or Jubel or something along those lines. I was told it was a schwarzbier...Hows your schwarz? This is quite nice. Roasty, bready, smooth, toasted nuts, coffee, medium body, finishing with a nice bitterness. I knew I should have saved another bottle...damn

Another beer that was halved with the dude at The Brew Shack.

Poured a nice dark smoky amber body, closer to a coco color. The head was a fat and fluffy tan hue. My palate rejoiced with the toasted malts and smoky compliance. There was a nice balancing of doughy yeasty tartness, sweet barley- toffee-like extractions, and some light spicy notes of orange zest. I took most pleasure in the grand holiday nutty-ness and smokiness of the brew. Yet another beer that has what I always distinguish as pumpernickel bread proposals, but this one also had some hints of coco. The palate was not overly rich but it worked rather nicely with all the beers lightly festive characters! Simply a very Drinkable brew, with a dry smoky finish, and the low abv makes it a nice session beer as well!
