COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mahr’s Brau Ungespundet Hefetrub It pours with a big, creamy, long-lasting, head; has a golden-bronze color; a wonderfully fresh, perfumy; hop aroma; a remarkably smooth, almost oily, malty, palate; very fresh flavours; and a spritzy finish. It is beautifully balanced, but leans to the dry side. This is a delicious, appetising beer and a true taste of Germany’s fast-vanishing artisanal tradition.

From a half-liter bottle. This beer poured a a hazy orange amber golden color with a generous white head and leaves nice lacing. Aroma and taste is of grain and hay with just a touch of hops. The drinkability is extremely high on this one. I really enjoyed it.

Bottle. Pours clear amber, small off-white head, decent lacing. Aroma is bready, caramel, some pine and grass. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, bready and caramel malts, light citrus. Medium body, a hint of acidity. Not bad, but I imagine that this was not the freshest sampling.

500 ml. bottle. Fairly fresh. It pours a lightly hazed orange color with a small but creamy white head. The aroma is full with lightly toasted bread and honeysuckle. Some malty sweetness. The flavor is the same. Toasted bread is pretty strong up front with some hints of floral hops. Not much else going on. A bit dull on the palate. Light honey like sweetness, but mostly just toasted bread. Very clean, yet unremarkable.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2015 Look; off white head and orange-golden near clear body. Aroma; caramel, malts, light grass, orange peels. Taste; good malts, grass, soft caramel, notes of orange peels, wet hops, leading to a finish with slightly roasted malts and grassy hops. Normal texture and carbonation. Completely uncomplicated, rather good actually. [50cl brown bottle 5.2%abv BB30-10-2015 Greetings to Bierothek in Bamberg DE, T@Ferie2015] - - - Also tasted vom Fass: Off white head, dark body, possibly hazy amber. Aroma of malts, brown sugar, malted candies, appleish hops, some dough. Tastes brown sugar malts, apple peels, strawberry, vanished huckleberries, sourgrass, lemon note, hops - leading to a fruity finish in hops and smooth malts. Ok body, soft, straight and clean. Almost as a polotmavy. Good brew. [50cl 4.9%abv vom Faß in ceramic mug @ Alt-Ringlein Bamberg T@Ferie2015]

Maybe one of the best German beers. And I’ll taste many of them. You have to go to Bamberg for it, but that’s no punishment.

Hazy brown color with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is malty and hints of caramel, quite sweet. Flavor is pretty much the same with a slightly hop hint. Almost no carbonation in a medium body with a sweet yeast finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone 4S
