COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mahr’s Brau Ungespundet Hefetrub It pours with a big, creamy, long-lasting, head; has a golden-bronze color; a wonderfully fresh, perfumy; hop aroma; a remarkably smooth, almost oily, malty, palate; very fresh flavours; and a spritzy finish. It is beautifully balanced, but leans to the dry side. This is a delicious, appetising beer and a true taste of Germany’s fast-vanishing artisanal tradition.

Bottle pours a clear copper with a large off-white head. Aroma of grassy bitter hops, grain, dry bread, caramel, and malt. Taste of sweet caramel malts into dry bitter hops with some yeast and bread on the finish. Simple but very drinkable and enjoyable.

Tap at FWIBF. Copper color with big white head that kept coming up. Aroma is malty and sweet. Taste is a fresh malty bomb of a beer. Some bread and pretzel elements. The head brewer seemed to love it as he was rather drunk.

Draught at Mahrs Brau, Bamberg, Germany. A copper coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Malty, hoppy, yeasty aroma. Tastes malty, hoppy, some caramel in there too. Good stuff.

what a beer, what a setting. ultra fresh off the tap in the brewery in bamberg. coppery color, slightly cloudy, perfect head, clean aroma. the taste is creamy, nutty, perfect balance between malt bitter. just terrific with the house beer-bratwurst and sauerkraut. you won’t be able stop at one.

This beer is made to drink on tap as fresh as can be, so one must take it with a grain of salt when drinking it from the bottle. These low gravity German beers do not tend to age well, so see if there is a best before date on the bottle before purchasing. The beer should not taste sour at all. It should be relatively crisp with subtle hop complemented by some of the best malty qualities you’ll find in any beers. The malt character is what makes it - subtly sweet, grainy, but not overpowering. It is countered by a decent amount of carbonation and hop, therefore making this a beer that Americans will generally NOT go gaga over. It does not possess the powerful hops or alcohol that Americans crave, but it is my opinion that this is the quintessential German beer. If you see this on draft anywhere, you must get it, preferably in the sort of ceramic mugs that they use at the brewery in Bamberg!

(Note: This brew is old due to a liquor store not keeping an eye on old stock.) This beer’s aroma is strong and unpleasant due to the sour malts, sweet bread yeast, and sour fruitiness, and the appearance is orangeish golden with a small white head that dissipates to a ring and with some black, fine sediment in the bottom of the glass. The taste is mildly sour and slightly sweet, and the palate combines a light body, thin and slick texture, soft carbonation, and long yet subtle finish.

Draught at Mahrs Bräu in Bamberg. Copper color. Lots of yeast in the aroma with a nice floral quality. Malt and grain flavors. This is really good.

Tap, slight haze amber pour with a white head. I get a lot of banana character on the nose with malty/yeast undertones. Big malt character with the banana notes coming through on the palate. Very refreshing and well-balanced.
