Bottle MHD 260912. Pale yellow body, bright white head. Sweet nose, airy with a little grain. Medium body with light but hard bitterness, controlled sweetness, touch of metal in with the noble hops.

A: The beer pours a clear golden straw color with a rather tall white head. S: There is a definite skunk to the nose, unfortunately. Some yeast on the front end a nice malty sweetness all the way through. Bready malts with a light cracker character and a little bit of floral hops. T: the flavor still has a bit of skunk to it, but not as noticeable as the aroma. Fairly sweet for a light beer with some nice malt flavor to it. A bit of floral hops and bitterness, but overall pretty light. M: Light in body with a medium to high carbonation. O: An okay beer, but I don’t think I’d pick this one up again.

I had this while in Germany. Total tick. Pours like a light Easter egg water with a white head. Smells and tastes faintly of grass and yeast. Bleh.

Tasted on 7/17/11 from a 500mL bottle purchased at Binny’s Lincoln Park. Pours cloudy light yellow with a thin white head that quickly recedes to nothing at all. The nose is an interesting blend of almost burnt sweet bitter malt, honey, and bitter/tart lemon peel. The flavor is sweet honey and almost burnt caramel up front, moving to the more bitter lemon peel flavor. The body is light with average carbonation and a short honey and bitter lemon peel finish.

Hazy yellow with a white head. Strong malt syrup aroma. Taste is sweet malt syrope with light hops and a watery finish. Could have used some more hops.

Disclaimer: a B for a light lager means the highest the style can get to me, it just looks foolish rating it any higher imo. 500ml brown bottle, bottled on date is messed up. It pours an odd color, it is almost like a witbier in appearance, a pale whitesh gold. The head is soapy and bright white receding fast, but leaving delicate rings of lacing. Smell is unique, but also vastly upgraded form American light beers. This one quite simply smells like if you were smearing hops on some bread with a subtle malt sweetness. The taste is again odd, but it has a decent hop presence and bitterness actually. The flavor is a bit like just plain old malted barley with not much sugar. My guess is they took their Helles, removed half of the malt and called it a day. Overall it is an interesting beer, it tops the light lager charts, though it itself isn’t the greatest beer unless your a calorie counter. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 08-09-2010 18:03:25
