2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 KyotoLefty (3480) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 19, 2010
Bottle at McLaughlin’s, one month past its “drink by” date. Rather thin gold color and thin head as well. Malty, sweet, aroma, some spicy hops but very diminished in hop character. Not bad. Nicely malty flavor, with little hop flavors left but still a decent hop bitterness. Very bready, with malts dominating. Flavors are a bit dulled, and the mouthfeel seems to be thinning. Maybe I shouldn’t post it, but I’ll re-rate at the brewery sometime soon. All in all, this held up very well for a pilsner from half way around the world. Can’t wait to try it fresh.
