The light and compact foam characterizes this top-fermented ale. The opalescence is due to the typical unmalted cereals used in brewing. The taste of floral lavender, well balanced by the malt and the freshness of the hops, give life to this drinkable and elegant ale.

Ingredients: water from Del Verde, barley malt, wheat (Senatore Cappelli), Maiella flowers, hops, yeast.

Bottled. An unclear golden beer with a white head. The aroma has strong notes of ginger on a malty and citrusy back ground. The flavor is sweet with notes of ginger, wheat, yeast, and some malt, leading to a dry ginger finish.

330 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui during October’s “Beer Festival” promotion.

Cloudy hazy pale muddy straw with some yeast sediments; One-quarter finger head with soapy white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Moderate sticky lacing and faint trace of carbonation; Fragrant sweet aroma of light malt, with strong perfume, flower petals, nectar, figs, grapes skin, grapes soda, sugar, light yeast and very light lemon; Very light sweet taste of thin Ale malt, with light dark fruits, floral petals, fairly light perfumes, molasses, Middle Eastern spices, light carbo, light yeast, lemon and moderate grass; Light body. Thin palate; Mouth feel is strongly flwery and perfume-like, gimme some fond memory of Orval but this is all in a light malt base. No wheat tartness, light sweetness. the perfumey light dark-fruit background is quite pleasant enough. Some Middle Eastern food spice here but not as prominent as 961’s Lebanese Pale Ale. Overall taste is like a perfumed soda. Fair enough… Hoppiness is light lemon in nose, and light grass in taste. Fiarly light but notable bitterness for a very abrupt light finish; Quite dry after taste. Flowery and light bitter to mouth.

Comments: Now this one is more sensible and tasty than the previously Maiella beers I’ve had, but it still suffers from a lack of carbo despite being bottle conditioned. The chamomile-theme floral and perfume aroma and taste brush the light beer base pretty well, and more carbo will definitely lift up this one to better respectability. Still, quite a decent one.

Taste is slightly dry floral, weeds, camomile, flowers, hay, grain, sap, bark, leafs. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice enough. Kind of interesting though, and probably very nice with food.

Very complex beer. Around 4%. It has a tipical floreal taste, expecially of lavanda, but is balanced with a delicate aroma of citrus fruits and local wheats. Perfect for slow food.

Tap. Finger of foam that went quickly, slightly hazy yellow color. Lots of flowery and sweet honey notes in the aroma which very much continue to the flavor, hibiscous definitely. Fizzy carbonation and a light body. Interesting to try it, but would not need to again.

Cloudy blond color; generous head. The aroma is lemony and herbal. Weak mouthfeel, dry, with herbal (rosemary) flavor, ordinary bitterness. Not a beer for me.
