3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Aurelius (3147) - Tallahassee, USA - JUL 25, 2002
Well-hopped ale, though I didn’t particularly care for the variety. Cool label, but screw-off cap. Reddish brown with lasting raft of foam. A decent value at $4.99.

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Braudog (4607) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - AUG 8, 2003
Dark amber with a good head, but boringly still. This has a strong nut aroma, but there's only a off-center roasted nut/wood flavor that did not appeal that well.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 GermanBrews76 (671) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 6, 2003
Rolling, lumpy, shiny, off white head. Mild brown hue. Lightly roasted nose, nutty and caramely. Solid malt profile, some earthy hops, but don't stand out well. Roastey and initially subdued hop character. A hint of dark chocolate near the finish. A little weak in body, could use some more carbonation. The finish is overly bitter, the subdued hops then pull through to overrun the malts by a longshot. The balance is not harmonious at all.

brown sugary malty aroma, auburn color with a frothy tight head, nutty, sweet, tons of hops with a pretty sketchy finish

When ya call your beer studley do you really need to know what i think. It was good, as bitter as a 90 year old woman after a night of hard luck at the bingo hall. Good stuff, get my seal of approval.

Bitter, no body, there are many much better brown ales. I immeadiatly followed with a Samuel Smith Brown Ale and what a difference. I was surprised, I expected better from the comments below.

i liked the fact that there was little bitter aftertaste, but the beer seemed somewhat less hefty--not much body-- than i was expecting...i mean, with a name like studley....<G>
not bad at all, but not outstanding either.

Aroma was a little musty, but I liked the burnt/roasty/caramel flavors. As far as head goes, maybe I got a bad bottle/batch, because the bottle I poured was WAY TOO CARBONATED. It was extremely difficult to pour and drink.

A well done English Brown. Deep brown color; fairly hefty body; roasty and nutty flavor profile; hops of course very reserved; sweet side finish.
