0o9i (251), Reno, Nevada, USA Apr 3, 2006 Tap@brewery. Ruby with an offwhite head. English style barleywine, coying and warming. Aroma of caramel, fruit, toasted, alcohol. Caramel, sugar, fruity, significant "warmth," but mellow and drinkable. Carbonation is light, mouth kind of syrupy, body is fullish. Alcohol is well hidden. DJMonarch (4091), Northwich, Cheshire, England Mar 15, 2006 Barrel Draught from the jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 29/09/2005
Golden coloured and very strong in alcohol. Some bitterness in a warming finish. Rastacouere (5202), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 10, 2005 Remarkably durable off-white head covers the orange-amber pour. An obviously malt oriented example that offers basically no hop aromas. Rich toffee is just as soon taken for brown sugar or caramel. Chewy extremely sweet biscuity and anisey palate, rather flat carbonation, medium bodied, challengingly strong in alcohol. Hard to drink. Crash (431), Macomb, Illinois, USA Oct 3, 2005 GABF 2005:
Strange color, not sure what to call it but, it had a good head. Aroma was sweet with an almost fruit smell. Taste was ok but, the after-taste was not good and had an almost too fruity taste. MIBRomeo (1845), Wisconsin, USA Oct 3, 2005 brownish yellow w/ a nice tan well laced head. Very sweet aroma candied sugarz some carmel and dark fruit something just off. Full creamy palate Very generic flacor fake sugars artificial malts.. very blah.. worste barleywine i’ve tried today.
