Dark garnet color. Burnt alcohol and dark fruit malt aroma. Rich creamy palate which is remarkable as I would only classify it as medium bodied. Sweet malt dominates the palate and the aftertaste. Very port-like. Wonderful rich sweetness which is only mildly tempered by a slight hop finish.

Growler. Rating #9. Dark amber with some orange highlights and a great looking beige head that clung to the glass and left some nice lacing. Caramel and dark fruit aroma. A little bitter upfront followed by sweet caramel and a little alcohol in the finish. (2187)

Tap@brewery. Ruby with an offwhite head. English style barleywine, coying and warming. Aroma of caramel, fruit, toasted, alcohol. Caramel, sugar, fruity, significant "warmth," but mellow and drinkable. Carbonation is light, mouth kind of syrupy, body is fullish. Alcohol is well hidden.

Barrel Draught from the jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 29/09/2005 Golden coloured and very strong in alcohol. Some bitterness in a warming finish.

Rastacouere (5923) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 10, 2005
Remarkably durable off-white head covers the orange-amber pour. An obviously malt oriented example that offers basically no hop aromas. Rich toffee is just as soon taken for brown sugar or caramel. Chewy extremely sweet biscuity and anisey palate, rather flat carbonation, medium bodied, challengingly strong in alcohol. Hard to drink.

GABF 2005: Strange color, not sure what to call it but, it had a good head. Aroma was sweet with an almost fruit smell. Taste was ok but, the after-taste was not good and had an almost too fruity taste.

microdyke (360) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 19, 2003
A light brown ale with no real head. An aroma of raisin, plums...dry fruit in general. A strong plum flavor with alcohol, bitter hops and a touch of caramel malt. Not really well balanced. A medium body.

I was pretty impressed it was the first barley wine I've had in CA that actually tasted like a barleywine. Smells like raisin. Thick full body. Sweet and tangy flavor.
