acrdz (4285), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 14, 2004 Deep black. Milky and charcoal-like nose. Weird woody and milky flavor, wood barrel... just a weird feeling. Long lasting woody finish. Volgon (2458), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Aug 11, 2004 RBSG 2004, on tap at the brewpub: Dark brown with no head, sweet malty aroma, sharp ringwood taste, light watery body. Eh. argo0 (6167), Washington DC, USA Jul 24, 2004 (RBSG04) Brown-black body. Aroma is medium sweet, roasty, caramel, some chocolate. Taste is medium sweet, RIngwood, earthy, grapefruit, some cherry. Lightly carbonated, light-medium body. Tastes more like a porter than their porter. aceofhearts (1373), San Francisco, California, USA Jul 20, 2004 Tap. Finally I have a mild ale. Very dark - looks like a stout. WTF?? Little discernerable smell. Tastes like dark malts; and the weak finish made it TOO mild to be good. Disappointing. Too much Ringwood yeast. BückDich (4540), Boise, Idaho, USA Jun 9, 2004 Black opaque color with a lasting sticky tan head & lots of lacing. The aroma has a touch of roast but is mainly watery with some malt body & a little alcohol sweetness. Finishes with a large body for the ABV.
