COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Some may call this a malty double IPA, some a hoppy barley wine. We prefer that it not be classified. We think of it, simply, as our strong winter ale. Intense hop aromatics and flavor (think pine, candied orange) blended with just enough malt sweetness to balance out the palate. Vitals: Color – Mahogany ABV – 9.1% O.G. – 1.080 Malt – American 2-Row, Marris Otter, Victory, Carapils, Caramel 80, Midnight Wheat Hops –Centennial, Simcoe, Cascade, Falconer’s Flight

16.9 oz bottle. Cloudy brown with a pocked ivory head. Nose is cut grass, pineapple, lemon and pine. Smooth medium body with a soft buzz. Taste is lemon zest, earthy pine, bitter orange and menthol. Took me a while to warm up to this one; seamless and unique hop profile with muted sweetness.

Bottle shared with Andrew and Brendan. Pours a deep, hazy amber red body with nice white lacing. Aroma is rich, funky hops, light caramel malt, fresh citrus and flowers. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of pine hop, resin, caramel, light booze, grapefruit and faint citrus. Another knockout from Maine. Cheers.

Hoppy and strong, yet well balanced. Lots of citrus, a little malt. like a strong IPA.

Bottled 1/31/13. Appearance: clear amber orange with fluffy white head. Aroma: pine, brown sugar, pumpkin. Taste: that interesting pumpkin/squash flavor throughout with caramel maltiness in the middle ending with dry bitter pine resin. Mouthfeel: medium body with medium carbonation. Overall: again another very well crafted but not mind blowing brew by Maine Beer Co. It's an interesting flavor that I wasn't expecting and never really picked up that pumpkin type flavor before (not like pumpkin beers). I like it a lot but not $9/500mL good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500mL Bottle, purchased at Wines & More - Cranston, RI. Concentrated lemon-yuzu hop dank aroma. Fresh and zesty. Clean, green super fresh and rich dry hop flavor. Sometimes dry hopping can push hop greeness to a sort of pumpkin flesh quality, which I appreciate as a sign of hop freshness and intensity, but the quality isn’t always my favorite. I’ve had this problem with homebrews before, which brings me to a point about Maine Beer Co, their products can really make me feel like I’m drinking the best, freshest homebrew ever made, not some commercially wrought product. The $6.50 price tag hurts in this regard, but I always feel good about the freshness and thought behind the beer. Finishes spicy and supple, with hop flavors leaving pumpkin for spice and conifer to wrap up. Great, but maybe not as big a heavyweight as Lunch or Peeper.

Hoppy aroma with a bit of sweet, bready, caramel and orange earthiness. Appearance is an only slightly cloudy brown. A bit of creamy white head and good lacing clings to glass. Taste is a bit of sweetness with hops shining through to give a touch of bitter at the finish. Medium body, sticky, with average carbonation. Lasting bitterness on the tongue. There is a buttery quality to this beer. Overall, a great winterish beer. Easily drinkable. Alcohol is not completely hidden, but not a boozy beer. Another beer to love from MBC!

Location: Half liter bottle from Buy Rite, 2/18/13, Born on Date: 1/31/13

Aroma: The nose has some fresh tropical/citrus hops, some pine/resin, and a little spice
Appearance: It pours a dark orange-red with a fluffy head and some sticky lace
Flavor: The taste has lots of tropical fruit sweetness, some caramel, and lots of hoppy bitterness
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it some stickiness, a soft carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: Rater #11! I couldn’t help but break out this one as a celebratory beer today since it is a new, fresh beer from a great brewery! Anyway, what is there to say other then that this is another great, hoppy beer from Maine. What they are doing in the hop department just works.

First off, not what I expected from Maine Beer Co’s "big winter beer"! This is amazingly delicious! Hazy orange pour into a stemmed glass. Frothy white head with amazing lacing clinging to the inside of the glass. Full flowery bouquet of hops delights the nostrils. Bready malt backbone quite present. Hay and citrus upfront, whole grain bread fullness, excellent on the palate. Flowery hop finish. Wow, there is a lot going one with this one. Again, not what I expected!

Pours deep amber into a tulip. Off-white head with good retention recedes to conglomerate on surface leaving spot lacing. Caramel, pine and resin aromas. Sweet citrus and malt upfront turning hot in the lasting resin and toffee finish.

Good aroma of pine and grapefruit and a hint of licorice with a noticable caramel malt. Very intense aroma. Pours murky brown orange with a medium to large sticky head. Taste is big with hops. Grass and pine being most prevalent with a slight grapefruit orange rind. Feels a little too thick and the malts are distracting. Not complaining, this was a great IPA.
