4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
16.9 into a stemmed glass. This is wonderful, aroma is herbal hoppy with inviting whiffs of pine, soil, weed, and malty satisfaction. Taste is all around organic soil, pleasant hops, grass, citrus and more pine. The malt rides high within the first encounter, but the the hops seem to meddle in perfectly to pronounce their stance, which is strong. Color is a dark brown orange. head is nicely covering the brew but leaves sufficent room to breathe. Abv is there, but not fully brutel. Goes downn eloquantly (sp), smooth, and measures in some winter spices. I consider this one an excellent hybrid of a dipa and a strong ale. more on the dipa side. Aromics are ipa strong but the malt man, that simmers in striaght up and alters this one. An excellent brew by an excellent brewery.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled January 31, 2013.
Appearance: The body is hazy with an iced tea complexion and color to it. The head is thin and creamy and quickly settles into a bubbly coating.
Aroma: On the pour a strong aroma of sweet citrus and pine was prominent, but after sitting for a moment some malts appear with a light grassy and lemon aroma.
Taste: This is balanced great with a strong malt base that balanced out the assertive hop bitterness. Flavors of sweet citrus, grapefruit, and pine come to mind with a slight alcohol heat on the finish..
Palate: Thick and chewy with light carbonation, but not lacking. It’s the perfect amount.
Overall: I align this with the maltier IIPAs like Maharaja more than a barleywine. It’s really splitting hairs though. This is one of the more impressive Maine Beers I’ve had and it’s certainly worth a try. I like this.

Location/Date:Bottle on March 12th, 2013.
Appearance:Pours a copper cloud.
Aroma: Aroma of caramel, faint hop, grapefruit/orange.
Taste: Medium bitterness that is present but not killer, lots of caramel, faint orange/grapfruit.
Palate:Medium body, slightly sticky, lingering aftertaste.
Summary: Yet another tasty beer from Maine Beer Company...I don’t know how you’d classify this beer, it’s kind of a hoppy red ale, kind of a barleywine, all tasty.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ home via trade with Lukaduke. Thanks! Pours a hazy, dark reddish orange appearance with a cream colored head. Very spicy, garlic, onion, piney hoppy, a bit citrusy, thick toasty malty, caramel aroma. Bready, huge caramel, slightly roasty malty, herbal, very spicy, piney hoppy, intense flavor with some bitterness on the finish but its well contained. Tasty like all of Maine’s beers but probably not of my favorites from them.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle. hoppy strong winter ale! dank hops, backed by a big potent sweet greape, overipe melons, sweet cognac like booze note. sweet plumy malts intermingle with a dank resin hop presence. a touch grassy. coats the mouth. good, but a bit too sticky candesque for my liking. not my favorite from the awesome maine beer lineup, but decent.
