COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Some may call this a malty double IPA, some a hoppy barley wine. We prefer that it not be classified. We think of it, simply, as our strong winter ale. Intense hop aromatics and flavor (think pine, candied orange) blended with just enough malt sweetness to balance out the palate. Vitals: Color – Mahogany ABV – 9.1% O.G. – 1.080 Malt – American 2-Row, Marris Otter, Victory, Carapils, Caramel 80, Midnight Wheat Hops –Centennial, Simcoe, Cascade, Falconer’s Flight

Bottle shared by Dr Silverworm. Poured dark copper brown with a moderate frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy resin, complex malt with a small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy complex sweet flavor with a medium to heavy complex sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer.

500ml bottle, shared by b3shine. Date on bottle is 2/11/14. Hazy, darker orange amber color. Thin off-white head, leaves good dots of lace. Malty DIPA, yeah this was my first thought. Big caramel malt, some toasty malt, kind of biscuity. It’s a nice pleasant malt balance, with some spicy earthy hops. Bigger body. Super-smooth, lighter carbonation. Kind of crisp. More dry finish. First sip was sort of a surprise, but I loved it by the second sip. These guys make consistently great beer.. Stuff that I’d love to enjoy with every one of my dinners if I could.

16.9 oz bottle to snifter (shared with the group; thanks sloth!). Looks good; a translucent brownish orange with foamy off-white head that dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; sweet and malty with notes of caramel, hops, and toffee. Tastes like it smells with a pleasant mouthfeel. Good beer!

500 ml bottle shared by b3shine. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel malts, herbal and mildly fruity hops, bready malts, a slight alcohol bite. Decent enough.

Bottle. Big and boozy brew, tons of hops yet tons of malt, it goes a bit over the top. Reminiscent of Spiteful beers to me.

Bottle from X in a trade. Pours a amber red with white head. Aroma is strong hops, piney and resins. Taste is strong hops, all pine, grass, strong hoppy aftertaste. Tasty, not what I expected.

Nice bright hop aroma. Murky dark honey color. At first taste you think it’s just another double IPA then you get the malt. Really nice flavor profile. Lost a few points for the alcohol but otherwise great.

500 ml bottle. Pours a hazy reddish color with a thick beige head. Aroma is hoppy, lots of citrus and pine, melon notes. Lots of caramel, malt notes. Flavor is bitter, but balanced, with lots of caramel and toffee malt sweetness. Pretty big mouthfeel. Finishes bitter. This is pretty nice.

Bottle split with my Honkey. Hazy, bit chunky pour, red with a kinda yellowish head. Balanced and hoppy. Fruity and malty. Damn nice.
