COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Some may call this a malty double IPA, some a hoppy barley wine. We prefer that it not be classified. We think of it, simply, as our strong winter ale. Intense hop aromatics and flavor (think pine, candied orange) blended with just enough malt sweetness to balance out the palate. Vitals: Color – Mahogany ABV – 9.1% O.G. – 1.080 Malt – American 2-Row, Marris Otter, Victory, Carapils, Caramel 80, Midnight Wheat Hops –Centennial, Simcoe, Cascade, Falconer’s Flight

Poured from a 500 ml bottle thanks to lukaduke. Thanks man! Pours a semihazy copper with a white head of bubbly foam. Aroma is dank pine with a spicy sweet malt backbone. Taste is a clean hop bitterness with lots of pine. Really nice and clean. Super drinkable, especially for its gravity. So good.

Bottle at home, courtesy of Lukaduke. Thanks!! Pour is deep, hazy amber with a big cream-colored head and sticky lacing. Big hoppy aroma - pineapple, grapefruit, orange peel, some caramelized sugars, light bread, roast, and mango. Taste is brown sugar, grapefruit peels, some oranges, resinous, grass, sweet caramel, and toasted bread with a bitter finish and a touch of heat on the backend. Full mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Nice mix of malt and hops.

500ml bottle from Binny’s Lakeview. Pours a dark Amber color with a big fan head and lots of lacing. Aroma is hoppy, some pine, some orange citrus. Medium to heavy with creamy carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, lots of caramel, toffee, toast, big pine bitterness, some orange, grapefruit hops, with a bitter, pine finish. Too malty for a DIPA, but not quite a Barleywine. Either way, it’s pretty nice.

Bottle. Thanks Sarah Molner. Co-rate with Greg Clinininin. Deep peachy orange with a solid yellow cream lace. Nose is fruity and hoppy, tropical fruits are heavy with notes of resinous pine and light citrus fruits. Flavor is fruity and lightly bitter upfront, citrus predominates the flavor with some nicely complemented lightly sweet malt undertones. Insanely drinkable for the abv. Wow, this is great beer. This is everything I have always wanted Arrogant Bastard to be. Take note, Stone. Great work, Maine.

Pour out of 500 ml bottle, hazy copper-red pour with off white head, aroma brought candied fruit, caramelized sugars, nice honey, vanilla notes into some dark fruits, nice mango notes as well. Taste was sweet orange peel, mango, some grapefruit into honey and vanilla, rum soaked raisins, dark fruits, nice earthy spice notes, finishing sweet but bitter. Very well balanced as Maine seems to do well, this is one of their better ones.

Maine can do no wrong. Darker orange pour from bottle. White head. Tropical fruit and hoppy aroma. Taste is spicy bitter fruity with a perfect balance of all. This is another amazing beer of theirs. Never had one that wasn't great

Maine Beer is doing great thing with hops. Lil One has a great fresh hop nose over melted caramel. This pours a hazy orange color with a short lived off white head. There are lots of strong caramel candy malts with just a crap ton of hop resin, pine and red grapefruit hop flavors. This is a really hoppy beer with lots of alcohol and chewy malts. Long dry hop resin and pine finish. Makes me want to live in Maine.

From a bottle. Pours cloudy orange copper with a bubbly white head. Tastes like grapefruit, hops, bitter raisins, alcohol, dried fruit, and tobacco. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like alcohol, tropical fruit, raisins, and hops.

Bottle. Pours murky amber with creamy off-white head. Aroma is apples, floral and spicy hops, bready and cereal malts, and a touch of booze. Flavor is dry malts, medium hop bitterness, light caramel sweetness, and some apple esters; dry finish with some bitterness lingering. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle from Damon’s in Augusta Dated Jan so this might not be quite the hop monster it once was. Pours a slightly murky golden amber color with a frothy off white head that persists forever sticking lots of lace on the sides. Aromas of earth pine brown sugar and caramel. The flavor is bit sweet with hints of caramel and raw brown sugar with a solid hit of earthy pine and resin. Toffee and light fruit with a bit of alcohol flavor round us out. Medium to thick body with a light level of carbonation and a sticky creamy resinous mouthfeel. I drank this at the wrong time I think. Either super fresh when the hops still popped or with more age to bring forward more fruit and subdued hops. I’m interested enough in seeing how this develops that I may pick up a bottle on my way out of town to cellar for a bit.
