Our ďEast CoastĒ version of a West Coast-style IPA. Intense hop flavors and aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and pine dominate. A subtle malt sweetness brings the beer into balance.

500ml bottle into a New Belgium goblet. A: Pours a hazy orange-copper color. Very hazy, actually. About two fingers of fluffy, off-white head is formed, and the retention is fabulous. The lacing left on the glass is both sudsy and plentiful. S: Unsurprisingly, itís loaded with citrusy hops. I notice grapefruit, mango, apricot, and melon alongside some more typical pine notes. Slight biscuity maltiness is evident, too. While it didnít quite blow me away like I expected it to, itís still a great aroma, head-and-shoulders above many IPAs. T: The citrus notes are even more evident on the flavor profile. A huge opening of fresh grapefruit, apricot, melon, and mango provides an evocative juiciness that I love. Mild pine bitterness and slight biscuity tones appear on an otherwise clean finish. This really does a fantastic job of showcasing fruity hops in a balanced manner. M: Pretty much ideal here: clean, crisp, bone-dry, low bitterness, and light. Iíd call it íeasy to drinkí, but this is one of those beers I donít want to end. Soft carbonation adds to the wonderful mouthfeel. O: Itís easy to see why this is hyped. As far as east-coast IPAs go, I canít think of one thatís on this level - maybe super-fresh Troegs Perpetual IPA or Flower Power? Obviously I havenít sampled any of the (supposed) Vermont masterpieces, but Iíd still imagine this one is really high up the totem pole regardless. And to think I was ready to complain about MBC pricing before sampling this - Iíd gladly pay $8/500ml for this one again. And again, and again, and again...

500 ml bottle, born on date of 050316. Served in a Spiegelau IPA glass, the beer pours a mostly clear gold color with a couple inch off-white head that stayed around for a really long time. Thereís also a good amount of lacing. Aroma is really nice, the brew smells mostly like pine and citrusy (tropical fruit, grapefruit, peaches) hops, along with some bready malt. As soon as I poured this into the glass, the aroma was noticeable right away. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, itís mainly pine and citrusy (tropical fruit, citrus peel, grapefruit) hops with a bit of bready maltiness. With the aroma I thought the tropical fruit/citrusy hops stood out more, but it seemed to me that there was more balance between the pine and tropical fruit/citrusy flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís a bit slick with a good amount of carbonation. I liked this a lot, Iíd certainly like to try it again in the future. $6.99 a bottle.

On tap at the source as part of ECBT. Smallish pour to pace myself. Attractive clear, filtered IPA with predominantly golden notes. Aroma is reminiscent of almost an imperial IPA. Plenty of hops with pine and floral qualities. Taste is fresh and clean. Remarkably easy to drink with a pleasant bitterness offset by a malty sweet balance. Almost a grassy feel mid sip. Very professional effort. Expectations were high and this meets them with no issue. Coming away impressed.

Orange yellow pour right away. Aroma juniper. Aroma is mild doughy onions. Light juniper palate light for an ipa, resinous elements are fantastic but the hops are faded. 7 months old

Cloudy bright orange pour with half inch white head. Bright citrus aroma with pungent zest, kind of orange juice-y, malt backbone floury, but of mint. Lively mouthfeel, fairly average mouthfeel, effervescent dry finish. Flavor has grass/straw, and has lots of citrus elements. Dry bitter zest, fresh orange juice, bitterness is palpable toward the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

July 22, 2015. On tap at the brewery.
Clear dark golden with a small white head. Aroma is hoppy with a good amount of citrus, grassy, peach, pineapple, some pine notes and grain. Taste is medium sweet with ripe pineapple, peach, and mango, smooth medium bitterness leading to a dry grassy bitter finish. Medium bodied, average carbonation.
Another great IPA from the east coast.

Bottle @ Dangerous Bottleshares feat. Aaron from Oregon 5.0. Pours hazy orange amber with a beige head. Aroma of pine, citrus, dank hops, orange, grapefruit and just nice and clean west coasty although itís from the east. The taste has pine, oranges, citrus, grapefruit, lime and dank hops. Also some weak grain in there. Pretty nice!
