Our ďEast CoastĒ version of a West Coast-style IPA. Intense hop flavors and aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and pine dominate. A subtle malt sweetness brings the beer into balance.

500ml bottle into a New Belgium goblet. A: Pours a hazy orange-copper color. Very hazy, actually. About two fingers of fluffy, off-white head is formed, and the retention is fabulous. The lacing left on the glass is both sudsy and plentiful. S: Unsurprisingly, itís loaded with citrusy hops. I notice grapefruit, mango, apricot, and melon alongside some more typical pine notes. Slight biscuity maltiness is evident, too. While it didnít quite blow me away like I expected it to, itís still a great aroma, head-and-shoulders above many IPAs. T: The citrus notes are even more evident on the flavor profile. A huge opening of fresh grapefruit, apricot, melon, and mango provides an evocative juiciness that I love. Mild pine bitterness and slight biscuity tones appear on an otherwise clean finish. This really does a fantastic job of showcasing fruity hops in a balanced manner. M: Pretty much ideal here: clean, crisp, bone-dry, low bitterness, and light. Iíd call it íeasy to drinkí, but this is one of those beers I donít want to end. Soft carbonation adds to the wonderful mouthfeel. O: Itís easy to see why this is hyped. As far as east-coast IPAs go, I canít think of one thatís on this level - maybe super-fresh Troegs Perpetual IPA or Flower Power? Obviously I havenít sampled any of the (supposed) Vermont masterpieces, but Iíd still imagine this one is really high up the totem pole regardless. And to think I was ready to complain about MBC pricing before sampling this - Iíd gladly pay $8/500ml for this one again. And again, and again, and again...

Bottle to ipa glass. Pours a pretty golden with a big white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine with a touch of citrus notes behind. Taste is very grapefruit forward with a decent malt character and some sweetness to balance. Pretty bitter finish on the tongue. Overall a well made beer just not something I love. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Big head. Great tropical, grapefruit, and pine hop aroma. Honey colored and a little cloudy. In the same family of IPAs as Pliny (which I only know from clones), but what?s especially nice is the finish. I get a more delicate lemon and biscuit at the end with a tart and puckering sensation. Very drinkable despite the intense piney middle. Must be good water treatment (reminds me a little of TG but with more bite). Mineral taste?

Bottle from high spirits. Light-amber-gold, slight haze, 2 inches of warm frothy creme brulee head that fades at a moderate rate to ocean foam. Aroma is strong berry, moderate orange, sweet grapefruit, some passion fruit, lychee, a touch of floral-honey sweetness underneath it all. Body is light-medium-light, watery-oily a touch starchy, medium-light carbonation of moderate coarseness, soft and soapy on the palate with light burn. Surprisingly inviscid. Flavor is lots of sweet orange, bit of sweet grapefruit, some passion fruit and gauva, pear. Green sap leading into foresty bitterness that doesnít linger and certainly has no astringency. A refreshing finish. I am thoroughly impressed. I worry that these beers will suffer as the fill the shelves. Storage/distribution is part of the reason why the beers are so good. Wonder why Limbo IPA isnít as good as it was when it first came out? Thatís exactly why. Refrigeration is key though, so Iím hopeful! Of course, selling these at 8$ a bottle is likely not sustainable.

Tasted on tap at Headquarters Beercade. It poured a rich, clear amber with a quickly dissipating white head and streaky lacing. Grapefruit aroma with a powerful hop taste, a citrus backbone and a bitter finish. Tasty! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Mugs Alehouse, New York. Colour is clear light.orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, hops, minerals, hops and malts. Hard to find any fruit or hop profile. This is totally different than any other IPAs I have had before. Very nice in fact. Superb drinkability.

Of all the hyped ipas Iíve had this one I found deserving. Balanced to perfection, not boredom (bells two hearted). This uses classic hops for a pine citrus bouquet in aroma and flavor. This would be the perfect IPA to drink everyday. Its too bad that finding it is like winning a kind of lottery and its priced like something that transcends what it is.

Bottle. Lovely floral aroma of fresh-cut hay, pine, and grass. Pours a clear golden straw with a fresh-white head. Very floral taste of honeysuckle and lemongrass with surprisingly light bitterness when compared with the nose. Extremely clean finish. A good IPA, but, in my opinion, it doesnít quite merit its high marks.
