Our American-style stout aged on organic vanilla beans. Intense notes of coffee and dark chocolate lead way to subtle notes of natural vanilla. Flaked oats generate a silky mouthfeel.

Location: 500 ml bottle from Norm’s, 11/17/12

Aroma: The nose is chocolate, vanilla, some roasted malts, and a little bit of coffee
Appearance: This one pours a dark brown-black color with a small beige head
Flavor: The taste is a little sweet, heavy malty, pretty toasty, and with a mild bitterness
Palate: The body is medium-plus, it feels creamy, has a soft carbonation, and a lengthy, lightly dry finish
Overall Impression:  I thought this was a really solid beer, but it didn’t approach world class for me. Still though, it was very solid, and the flavors were right in-line with what they were going for. The vanilla doesn’t overpower, instead, it adds a nice component. Good stuff.

Bottle poured almost completely black with a fingers worth of brown head. The nose is a lot of vanilla followed by chocolate and coffee with some malt roastiness. The flavor follows suit with a smooth syrupy feel. This is a great stout!

On tap at the brewery. Dark brown pour with a kaki head. Coffee and vanilla bouquet. Wow, I can’t recall a low ABV base stout with this much vanilla. Nice complexity with vanilla that gives way to dark roasted malt, expresso, and tobacco notes. Good body and mouthfeel. Impressive, the amount of flavor from 6.5%. It’s not Expedition or Serpent but it’s still a damn fine stout...

Bottle sitting in my parents fridge in Maine. Pour is deep black with a rich big brown head. Nose coffee and malt. Taste is bitter a rich. This feels far too much like drinking carbonated cold brew coffee. Which is far removed from what I expected from opening. Too much coffee for me

Nitro draft at Bru Craft. Opaque dark brown/black pour that started with a solid head of brown foam. Giant showing of lace. Creamy stout flavors of dark cocoa, vanilla and espresso. Semi-glossy black liquorice. Hints of cigarettes and vinyl. Not overly complicated but what is there is well done.
