3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle from Binnys Lincoln Park (Chicago, IL). Finally stopped and grabbed something from Maine. Pours a golden orange hue, fiery glow, a bit dulled in the middle. Grainy harvest hues, mellow haze, cakey offwhite head sits atop prominently. Good stick around, firm cakey crown with decent lacing. Aromas are soapy and citrus, distinct pungent lemon rind and fruit, florals and nice summery grass. Gentle cracked grain, clean bread and nice florals stack, a touch powdery and soapy. As it settles, a bit of staleness settles out, fresh and earthy hops. Initial is lighter end of the fold, some decent effervescence, carbonation, strike of bitter florals and citrus. Lemony citrus, rind, and florals. Some grass, a bit weedy. The flavors are a bit vibrant, showing some nice florals, soap and gentle doughy malt. Middle is nice citrus rind, oils and florals. A bit dry, the mellow malt body flows around the hop focus, fairly fresh but perhaps lacking complexity. Still, a nice flavor profile, earthy and floral, dry and soapy, the citrusy lemon slant dies out, but the beer itself is already quite nice. Tasty, session worthy, and fairly fresh for the format. While it lacks hop complexity, it’s built well, balanced, fresh and flows well. Nice.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draught, very clear golden straw color. Nose is tropical fruit, clementine, mango. Taste is clean malt balanced by bright citrus, lemon, juicy orange, tropical fruit, and subtle pine. Finish is balanced bitterness which drops off quicky and nice fruit notes. A little thinner on the palate than most MBC, clear that it’s their entry level beer. Still very good.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
16 oz. bottle dated 12 03 13. It pours a light orange color with a white head. The aroma is intensely hoppy with spice, grass, florals and light tropical fruit. Maybe a hint of bread. The flavor is dry with a spicy hop kick. Lots of grassy florals and big citrus character. Crackery malts near the finish. This is a very enjoyable hop forward APA.

Citrus lemon peel like aroma with some floral hops. Pretty light body and palate overall. A bit spicy hop profile with lemon zest flavors. Bitter finish. Descent but not fantastic.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hoppier than most British pale ales, but more bell-balanced than the average American version of the style. Nice hoppy aroma, crisp, with floral and citrus notes.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap: Positive Pie Plainfield. Gorgeous fresh white dough aroma. Honey, flowers, lightly. Very, very quiet.
Subdued flavor leaves a lot unfound under layers of papery, bland bitterness and simple, honey like sweetness.
That flavor partnering with the dissipated carbonation and slick mouthfeel suggest that this has possibly been on tap a while. Finishes non-descript with bland citrus pith and dry herbs. Will revisit.
