An American-style ale brewed one barrel at a time. The malt bill is built on American two-row malt and accented by crystal 10, Vienna, and white wheat malts. Magnum hops give the beer a nice clean bittering and Amarillo, Cascade, and Centennial hop varieties provide a pleasant floral and citrusy hop flavor. A healthy dose of additional Amarillo and Centennial are dry hopped to give this beer an inviting hop aroma. The beer is fermented with a neutral yeast strain and allowed to dry out so it finishes crisp and clean.

Note: Formerly known as Spring Peeper.

From a bottle shared by Sean of 2 Beer Guys. This orange-copper-amber hazy bodied ale possesses a frothy attached whitish head. The nose is a luring piny citrus Northwest hop variety with prevalent bready and biscuity undertones as well as noticeable nuttiness. Clean, balanced (for an IPA) with many favorable resinous hops complexities. This beer is an obvious winner.

Draught and bottles from debut, most recently on draught at Lonestar, 7/11/15
Next in the "Why the Hell havent I rated this yet??" series, we have a fine beer that I really think helps push the bitterness envelope for American pale ales, yet still remains quite drinkable, crisp and with enough actual hop flavor to still get enjoyment from. I’ve always enjoyed this one, but this most recent draught experience was even better than usual. The beer was sparklingly clear, had a good, citrusy-floral nose with light tangerine, nectarine, lemon and orange and only a bare smattering of light malts in the background. No alcohol and minimal, if any, resin.
The flavor is where this one shines best, I think. Utterly dry, wonderfully attenuated and full of fresh citrus flavors piled atop moderate dextrins that add body and help balance, without adding any unnecessary sweetness. Strong bitterness goes right up to the brink of my tolerance, though I’m sure many will find it tame in comparison to many IPAs. There’s a healthy dose of light pine mixing with grapefruit but it doesn’t really stick to the palate and bog it down. I was able to suck down four of these things at lunch with no problem at all. Very good and put MBC on the map for good reason. There is a moderate amount of astringency from the high attenuation and heavy bitterness, but it’s not too problematic and is really the only detractor I can find with this beer.

Type: 500ml (16.9-oz.) bottle Glass: Hardwood Artisans pint glass From: Eddy’s Beverage Inc. in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Price: $6.99 Purchased: July 14, 2015 Consumed: July 17, 2015 Misc.: Born on June 23, 2015 Poured a yellow, golden, pale, hazy color with three fingers of rocky, white head. One really big bubble stream coming up from the bottom of the glass and a few other smaller streams as well. Average-to-above average amount of foamy spiderweb lacing on the sides of the glass. Great retention on the top. (Sight - 4.13) Smelled earthy rye malts up front surprisingly. Also getting sugary caramel, light Citra zest, lemon sweetened iced tea, honey, light floral and raw vegetables. (Smell - 3.88) Taste seemed to be better than the nose, but was a bit underwhelming overall. Got sweetened iced tea, pear, honey, orange zest, orange creamscicle ice cream (orange blossom I guess), floral, nectarine and grassy notes. (Taste - 4.00) Light body. Creamy texture. Average-to-soft carbonation. Fruity finish. (Feel - 4.00) This was a good pale ale, but not as good as the Maine MO I had last night. I’d have it again for sure though. (Overall - 3.88) 3.96 89 B+

APPEARANCE - super light yellow, almost the color of a white ale with white head to match, and a persistent, albiet small, flow of bubbles from the bottom feeding it. NOSE - very floral hops prevail, small bit of fruit. FLAVOR - some more resiny hops come into the palate on the sip. It ends super light, crisp and refreshing. NOTES - good summer beer, think it would make a good drinker with a pleasent aroma on a hot day.

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2015 500 mL bottle poured into a pint glass. Originally reviewed 4/3/2011. Pours a beautiful golden color with a substantial white head. The head recedes leaving sticky lacing. Very slightly hazy. Citrusy hop aroma. Orange and orange peel aromas. A wonderful scent that translates nicely into a citrusy hop flavor. Maybe the aroma is better than the flavor, but not by much. The hop character is backed up by a slight caramel flavor and a very slight malty sweetness. Just heavy enough to make me think it’s closer to an IPA than an APA. Medium carbonation is par for the course. Great APA,
