500ml bottle from Binny’s Lakeview. Pours a deep, dark brown color with a huge tan head and some lacing. Aroma is roasty, coffee, some citrus and pine hops. Medium on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, chocolate, coffee, pine hops, some light citrus, with a bitter, pine finish.

From the 650 ml. bottle marked C40114-7. Black as night pour with a huge beige head that lingers softly on top and leaves lacing with each sip. Aroma of roasted malts, hops, and maybe a touch of black licorice. The body is medium and smooth. The taste has a more forward hop character but I still pick up the dark malts and licorice like the aroma. This is nice.

From a bottle. Pour is very dark. Lots of head. Aroma of coffee and hops. The coffee really comes through in the taste. A bit of chocolate as well. Very nice beer.

Smells very light hoppy, dark ale with little to no head after it settles down. Taste is initially citrusy hops but a lot of coffee comes through and lingers. Very solid dark ale.

Bottle (thanks to goodbyeohio for sharing)... Poured black with a thin, khaki head. Some good retention. Aroma of awesomely dank, earthy, pine-like hops. Hop notes similar in the flavor with a good balance of roast and malt sweetness. Bright citrus, cocoa, roast, mild tobacco note too.

Une black IPA qui sort de l’ordinaire, j’aime son corps et le gout rond qui reste en bouche.

Draft pour. Excellent deep brown, coffee brown color. Has a fantastic roasty note on the nose. This beer gives your tastebuds a real going over, from the big punch off the hops to the chocolate malty profile which dominates without overpowering this brew. A fantastic brew, and one that defies categorization.

Bottle. The pour is black. The aroma is strong malt and chocolate. The taste is very solid. Nails the dark ale type spot on. The taste is spot on for chocolate and a mild malt. Thumbs up ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle while in DC for a conference. Pours a jet black with big brown head. This is not at all black IPA like. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Taste is much the same with some shoe leather and hay. Nothing about this is hop forward. Call it a stout/porter.
