Bottle poured a black in color with a one finger dark tan head. Aroma has bright hops layered over dark malt, roast, coffee, and chocolate. Mouth feel is surprisingly light with lower side carbonation. Flavor has plenty of malts, roast, light bitterness, pines, citrus, and resins.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma is a very nice floral hopiness with some light earthiness. Some nice roastiness and smokiness in the malt profile. Taste is a roastiness and caramel rich grain profile that is met by a fairly strong hopiness that leaves a tartiness on finish. Smoky malt character retsins until finish. Appearance is a dark black body with a beige /pearl creamy head that retains fairly well.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle. Deep brown with one finger head. Rich chocolate malt. Much less roasty than most other Black IPAs I’ve had, which is a nice change. Excellent hops. The flavors here are excellent, and yet I find myself with taste fatigue by the end of the bottle. I can’t get into this style no matter how hard I try.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black pour with a tan head.
Aroma has roast malt accompanied by pine hops.
The roast malt is held back in the flavor, allowing this to become a black IPA.
The roast malt is there, but not in a way that this makes you think it’s a stout.

From the 650 ml. bottle marked C40114-7. Black as night pour with a huge beige head that lingers softly on top and leaves lacing with each sip. Aroma of roasted malts, hops, and maybe a touch of black licorice. The body is medium and smooth. The taste has a more forward hop character but I still pick up the dark malts and licorice like the aroma. This is nice.
