16.9 oz bottle to snifter (shared by DrSilverworm). Looks good; a cloudy coffee with light beige lacing. Smells good too; dark malt and bitter hops with a bit of bittersweet chocolate. Tastes like it smells, only not quite as robust. Nice and smooth on the palate. A good Black IPA.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a nice frothy light brown head tht had excellent retention. The nose is flat out awesome. Lots of citrusy hops, heavy chocolate malt, some light roastiness, and a bit of dark caramel. The flavor is a little more slanted toward the hops rather than the Porter notes. Still plenty of chocolate and roasetd malts, but they are second fiddle to the bright citrusy hops. Lingering chocolate and bitter hops. Medium bodied, a little clingy on the back end, soft fizzy carbonation. Pretty nice Black IPA.

Courtesy of tectactoe Bottle: The aroma conssts of moderate-heavy citrus/grapefruit hops, pine, light-moderate chocolate, and light roast. It pours a dark brown with some faint orange highlights with a small light brown head that eventually fades to a thin film. There is some nice lacing rings left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of chocolate and light roast. The finish has moderate-heavy grapefruit and lighter pine. It?s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a soft mouthfeel. Overall, another Black IPA that I consider to be a hoppy Porter...a very tasty hoppy Porter.

Big head Todd on dark brown beer. Aroma is more hops than malt. Malty brown ale with nice hops but unfortunately the Maine chemical edge to the flavour. The most unique "house" aspect I have found in a beer. Comes across as cool but….

50cl bottle pours a translucent, mahogany, basically black with some clumpy head that is both white and beige, mixed. Nose of chocolate, cupcakes, dried orange peel, toast, light licorice. Flavor is meaty, malty, toast, coffee grounds, some orange peel, light smoke. Medium bodied, dry finish.

4/III/14 - 1Pt. 9Fl. Oz. bottle @ home - bottled: 12/31/13 (2014-245) Thanks to ajax25g for sharing the bottle!

Very dark brown to black beer, irregular fizzy beige head, pretty stable, adhesive. Aroma: smoky, ashes, bit fishy (no really, smells like fish gone bad, we smelled it with three persons), caramel, mocha, coffee, dried fruits. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: citrus, fruity start, pineapple, bit soky, cocoa powder, hoppy, sour touch. Aftertaste: bit sour, very bitter hops, ashes, dry, medicinal bitterness, bit smoky, charcoal, coffee grit, way too roasted for me. I would categorize this as a hoppy stout, not a black IPA.

Pours black into a tulip. Fluffy mocha head with god retention recedes leaving spider lacing to crater surface. Chocolate and tropical fruit aromas. Thin with sweet chocolate and resin upfront turning to espresso in the lasting finish.

This one poured a darker brown color with a bieg head. Aroma was of green and earth hops, roasted malt and light smoke. Flavor was very intresting. Straight up citrusy and green hops upfront, with no malt at all, and then a second swing of roast and smoke on the backend. Falvors completely seperated somehow. Great stuff.
