On a rainy fall day in 2009, my five-year-old daughter Zoe and I were wandering the streets of Bar Harbor and stumbled across the Whale Museum. Zoe loved it. Hopefully we do the same for you. Cheers! Our Happy, Hoppy, Amber-Ale

Nice fresh hoppiness. Not sure how this classifies as an amber, and not an IPA, but whatever. Very grassy, but in a good way.

500ml bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a huge tan head. Aroma of toast, lots of citrus (grapefruit, pineapple) and some pine. Taste is toasted amber malts, some spicyness, citrus, and pine bitterness.

Bottle from trade with Phatdog1. Been interested in this because of such a high rating within a style that gets less respect than most. First surprise was the medium brown pour, which I was not expecting, and then a beautiful thick resilient and clingy head, followed up with a surprisingly intense VERY fresh hop aroma that puts many IPAs to shame. Flavor is definitely hop forward, which supports my view that the highest rated Ambers and Pales push into IPA territory to garner those ratings. Anyway, itís a solid hop presence, and really the main attraction, although there are some carmel malt notes in there too. Reminds me of a Bear Republic Red Rocket Ale. Mouthfeel is substantial enough. The head lasts through the entire glass. I understand why itís rated high; nice to have tried this one. Canít help but feel it is more IPA than Amber, however.

Bottle via trade. Murky red-orange-brown body, thick to medium clumping head. Rindy nose, mostly grapefruit, with caramels and toast. Dense and layered. Lightish biscuity, toasty body with abundant hops. Soft yet rich.

Large, thick tan head, good retention and lace. Hazy, orange/red hued brew. Fat ass hoppy nose, pine and citrus, lil earth. Fully medium body rather chewy, lazy carbonation, resiny. Big, chewy malts are a hint sweet, caramely and backed with a large, balancing hop charge. Fruity, big and juicy. Kick ass Amber! Maine Beer Company,s beers all seem to be bottle conditioned. I think this has alot to do with their product being so nice. Keep doing what you do guys as its working well.

Smells piney and citrusy. Color is a deep amber with long lasting foamy white head. It tastes as it smells. Mouthfeel is thick.

Aroma of pine, with a hint of cat pee and grapefruit. Great amber-burgundy color with white decent sized head. Quite bitter, like rye. Pretty complex, dry mouthfeel.

Ok stuff not my style. Very hoppy, very red. Doesnt have the stale red flavor thought. Malt finish.

Uploading old ratings that were missing comments. A delicious hopped up amber ale. Hop profile runs the gamut from piney to citrusy to resinous. Strong malt profile gives it nice balance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

1 pint, .9 FL oz bottle shared by Lubiere, cool, tulip. Clear copper with a decent tan head, beautiful. Pungent, richly caramel, savory, broth, fruity, peppery, light molasses, intense. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Rich toffee and treacle, brown sugar bordering on molasses, somewhat peppery, serious stuff; off-dry with pretty good bitterness and a long dark bread crust and a peppery finish.
