Tap at 3 penny with Brian and Courtney, pours golden with no head or lace. Aroma is in your face raw honey. Taste is minty, herbal, earthy, black tea and sweet buttery honey...maybe some tupelo? Awesome mead.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 radarsock (486) - Massachusetts, USA - JUL 30, 2012
Sampled at Maine Mead Works,July, 26th, 2012, around 4:00 pm. I had just finished lunching at Silly’s across the street. Poured a glitzy swarthy orangeade giving off fragrances of tea leaves, table sugar, grape skins, honey, cloves and booze. I certainly got the mint, and black tea on the taste...the lemon? Not so much. The honey used tasted of butterscotch. Could the honey be avocado or orange blossom? Possible, for I did remember a brief bittersweet orange zest note by end-palate.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 phaleslu (4451) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 30, 2012
Sampled at Maine Mead Works. Based on a recipe from the main Mead maker’s grandmother’s sweet tea recipe. It pours a tea-tinted clear gold color with some small carbonation bubbles. The aroma absolutely exploded with tea, honey, fresh lemon citrus, and mint- wow, the tea character comes through so strong and everything balanced so well. The flavor matches the aroma, with tea, lemon, mint, and honey. Right on the money. Light-bodied. Lighter in ABV than all of MMW’s other meads (7.5% compared to 12.5%). I wish they’d bottle this. Until then, I’ll have to wait until I get back up to Portland to try it again. Great stuff. Best thing I drank on my trip up there.
