3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 ALLOVATE (1719) - Butler, WA, AUSTRALIA - MAY 31, 2012
A missed rating from all the way back in August 2008. Into a Maisel’s glass. Presents beautifully; persistent, towering white head daubs a thick web of lace, well fed by the frenzy below. The body a clouded, auburn amber reminiscent of a smoke-filled sunset. Mild banana esters and a touch of shaved nutmeg peaks out from under a thick blanket of fresh baked sourdough and ryebread. Hefty, bready grain notes dominate the palate, roasted and toasted wheat malt, fresh baked bread again like the nose with a husky, phenolic backend and finish. Picked up a very strange note of geranium in the aftertaste that lingers on the tongue. very little fruit comes through, slight yeasty presence is well masked. Racy and light in body but heavy in the stomach; I can’t see this being the best of option for a session at the gym. Still it is undoubtedly one of the better NA beers. 2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 tfredvik (377) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 14, 2012
A cloudy body with a light amber colour with an orange tint. The slightly off-white head is very large, rocky and creamy, fully-lasting and laces the glass very well. The aroma has traces of that nauseating sweet malty stench that can be found in almost all non-alcoholic beers, but in this one the pleasant notes are partially winning the battle: yeast, banana, sweet fruits and faint citrus. Very nice for a non-alcohol beer! The taste is moderate plus sweet with a very light bitter finish. The sweet malty non-alco notes are present in the flavours as well, but again they are in the back, while citrus, spices, yeast, a bit unfitting bread and caramel are in front. The body is light and the texture is a bit watery, but it’s not a disaster. Finally I’ve found a non-alcoholic beer that is in the same league as Brew Dog’s Nanny State!

Flaske: Mørkorange uklar øl med et kæmpe skumhoved. Duft af hefe og banan, men smagen er langt mere malt domineret end en normal hefe. Virkelig godt håndværk og fantastisk med de alkoholfrie øl.
