Traditional weissbier made according to the old Bavarian style with the unmistakable character of the fine cellar yeast.

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2011 After having had several cases of this, I feel the need to re-rate this one, that was the main reason for falling in love with nice German Weissbiers. The color is unclear, dark orange, and the head is huge and creamy. The aroma is harmonic with equal parts of spicy yeast (not too much or too little), lovely banana and wheat, that never is dominating or too grain. The same goes for the sweet, soft and pleasant flavour, that makes it hard to stop drinking it. From time to time I have had the opportunity to have it from tap – and I hope that’s what heaven is like – IF I ever go there ;) 2005 when I just started liking weissbier: Nice, hazy, red golden color and a very huge and stable head. The aroma has notes of wheat and fruit and the mouth feel is surprisingly oily considering the style. The flavour is quite unique, it has wheat, but also a lot of other notes like honey, clover, flower, light fruit (banana and others) and the bitterness is of course minimal. Light and yet very full-bodied with a long finish. It’s one of my favourite wheats, it’s really nice!!!

One of my favorites. Notes of bananas and more fruits, spice and sweetness. Good refreshing aftertaste in the summerheat.

Orange colored, little white head. Cloudy appearancwe, of course. Rich banana, spices and sweetness in aroma. Thin to medium bodied, crispy palated. Flavor has strong fruits with banana and apple tones, mild spices and even some vanilla tones there. Aftertaste has apple with drying touch. Nicely soft, still crispy and drinkable palate.

Bottled. Hazy golden/brown colour, big head. Aroma is wheat, banaanish malts and hops. Complete andf full aroma for a hefeweizen. Flavour is banana, wheat, malts, slight hops and caramel. Very welldone beer in all ways. Excellent for it’s style.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2007 Draught at The Rake Southwark. Deep yellow with a nice white layer of foam. Aromas of banana and yeast. Tastes of yeast, coriander and orange with a hint of banana. Medium bodied and smooth going down. Have seen it there several times and had even considered trying it. Well, whatever the reason for passing on it then, I’m kicking myself now.

Pours a cloudy peach color with a nice white head and lace. Aroma of spices and bananas. Flavor is the same but with wheat. Mouthfeel is a bit thick for this type of beer, but it doesn;t detract from the quality. Mild finish. Very nice.

Tap. Pours with a nice full yellow color, with the required murkiness and a nice head. The aromas are of fruit (bananas and grapefruit) in addition to some grains. Flavors of bubblegum, bananas, yeast and bread. Not overly complex but well done with a medium body.

Damn, a big, bad boy weissbier available world wide, lovely!!!
The label didn’t hook me but the beer sure did.
Poured a caramel-fudge coloured hazy gold. Quite light in carbonation, unusual for a weiss, with a sloppy, messed up head of cream donning it, holding there and lacing well as it sunk into the stein. Aroma of a bakery at dawn, wholemeal and fresh sliced white bread, a little raw malt and a closer link showing of banana esters and spicy phenols. Big toasted malts in the mouth, husky, gritty, rough, fresh. This holds some very complex, well defined malt flavours. It is also peaty, nutty and earthy as it moves back towards the tonsils and long into the swallow. Reminds me of Düsseldorf’s ’morning beers’. There is a strong presence of smoke that builds with each sip. Lingering flavours of burnt, damp wood, overripe bananas and cloves aid this. Down into the swallow it is peaty and woody, volatile and lingering - a lovely depth of flavour. Body is firm, though quaffable. Carbonation holds all in check. This is lovely stuff. It is liquid bread, made to taste fantastic. Lovely!!! (50cL, 13/03/07, The Beer Store Morley)
