chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England Feb 10, 2007 500ml bottle, from BeersOfEurope. 5.7%. Murky tan/orange colour with a head that quickly went awol. Quite citric lemony aroma with some confected bubblegum notes. Palate is also lemony, but sweetish too. Fairly fruity but doesn’t have much estery banana character. Mouthfeel is prickly, but thin, with sharp edges on the finish. Having looked at my notes for the regular version, I have to say that this seemed rather similar. I suppose I expected something a bit more from a "special" winter version, so it ended up seeming rather lightweight and lacking in presence. Palatable enough but not really what I was expecting.
JonMoore (1551), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England May 8, 2005 Bottle (which says 5.7%). Cloudy gold colour with 1cm white head. Wheaty aroma with some banana and citrus. Same for the taste; nicely balanced, nice medium bodied mouthfeel, quite highly carbonated. Good Hefe-Weissbier, like it. leaparsons (4001), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Mar 29, 2005 Cloudy gold with an off-white large head. Aromas are wheat, sweet malts and citrus with some banana. Flavours are sweet wheat, sugar, lemon and not as much banana and spices as expected. Like the Erdinger Schneeweisse this winter weisse is inferior to the regular version. Yogi_Beera (2404), Hamburg, Germany May 1, 2004 Hazy orange color - huge rocky head. Intense banana and vanilla nose - and of course taste - as always. Kind of weak though. Average. pivo (2488), Germany Apr 13, 2004 Very cloudy, dirty orange appearance. Huge head. Banana and vanilla tone amidst a bread-like wheat body. A little pepper in the aftertaste. Luscious body and thick-ish. Great balance. Nice hefeweizen.
