COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A typical example of what is unique about beer from the Czech Republic, the slightly bitter aftertaste typical of Pilsner lager is unmistakeable in this speciality of the city of Jilhava, its brewery and the river of the same name, encapsulating the story of its beer and the surrounding countryside in which it is produced using Zatec hops, malt and the purest of water.

Bottle from March 2014. Pours a cloudy yellow-gold with a small head that quickly fades to a ring. Aromas are sweetened cereal, butter, grain, and faint grassy hops. Tastes better than I thought though. A bit sweet at first with lots of grain, cereal and a very light fruitiness. Finishes with grass and a hint of spicy hops. Smooth and malty. I’ve had better Czech Pilsners but was pretty decent in my opinion.

Pale golden pour. Slight herbal aroma with moderate white head. Euro-pilsner profile: buttery balance, grainy notes and considerable bitterness in the aftertaste. Unable to find in Czech Republic, apparently this beer is produced for export only.

From draft Pale yellow with a nice foam, aroma is very light with malty grainy hints. Light body, good carbonated. Light taste with alchool, grains, cereals and spicy hoppy notes. Commercial beer!

Clear golden color, medium sized white head. Light to medium body, soft carbonation. Some light herbal bitterness and not much else. Very short finish. I’m quite disappointed by this one.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2014 Clear golden color with no head. Quite boring and watery. Malastrana Bohemian was much better. (Vrutak 0,5l bottle)

Birra con corpo importante ed esplosione di gusti di malto e luppolo. Color dorato molto bello. Si sente profumo di miele e mela, note erbacee e floreali. Molto equilibrata ma potente e raffinata. Finale amaro, notevole ! Una grande Pilsner.

This is my favourite pilsner. Produced by hlinsko brewery in czech republic, light and fresh, with malt and hops (at the end) aroma. This is the typical pilsner!

Ah yeah, an Italian company creates a Czech subsidiary to contract a series of beers from a Czech brewery. And somehow the beers end up in Croatia. Didn’t expect that so fast. Golden body, small white head. The nose was a pleasant surprise. Nice, soft, herbal, somewhat fruity, though I can’t pinpoint what exactly. The hop rises fast, herbal bitterness, pine, some graininess underneath. But it somehow does get tedious later on. It’s a quality lager nonetheless.

Bottled 500ml. -from Vrutak Zagreb. Clear golden coloured, medium sized creamy white head, mild buttery hoppy nose. The taste is pretty similar to Slovenian brewpub beers. Quite bitter hoppy, grassy and slight grainy with short bitter finish. Not as bad as could be but also could be (much) better.
