Pours cloudy pale golden color with big white head. Doughy yeast aroma with some grassy hops. Sweet tropical fruit flavor, bread dough and candy sugar. Medium body with lively carbonation.

Had this a few weeks ago at a local beer tasting event, took notes, but never wrote down the exact title of the beer. When I went back, they had no bottles left on the shelve and couldn’t name the beer correctly, so I was unable to write up review at the time. Until I finally saw the same bottle on the shelves yesterday, (and I’m positive as I remember the Michael Jackson quote referring to the peachy and rose flavors), so I’m now able to review the beer from my notes, which are several weeks old. Cloudy pale yellow in color with a nice white head, very yeasty looking. Sweet malt with spiciness in the aroma. Reminds me of a sweet red port wine. Very sweet and bitter at the same time, with an orange zesty finish. Medium bodied. Big kick of sour/bitter orange flavors in the beer that didn’t appeal to me.

On tap at O’Briens in San Diego. I guess this is their new flagship brewery taking its rightful place alongside Pliny as beer on tap every night. Not a bad choice in my book. Quality golden Belgian strong ale. Aroma is loaded with sweet fruit esters, notably banana, clove and some coriander spice thrown in. Sweet malt base with hints of pear and a full bodied finish. Hint of bitterness and mint leaf on the palate.

Golden color with a white head. Very sweet, honey aroma. Like a sweet spiced tripel.

Bottle. A - Cloudy honey golden orange color with a huge creamy, thick, foamy white head with great retention with a thick lacing left. S - A good amount of floral and lemony citrus aromas jump out supported by a nice background of spices, grasses, and fruit (peach, apricot, apple, etc.) T - Sweet malt taste provides the base. Good amount of fruit, similar to the nose, and a touch of honey taste along with some typical Belgian spices and yeast. Citrus and grassy flavors come out a bit more at the end. A touch of bitterness, but more zesty flavors interact with the base sweetness. M - Medium body with slightly above average carbonation. Slightly drying and fairly creamy. D - Very drinkable beer. Well balanced taste with some sweetness but also a bit of zesty bitterness. Alcohol is very well hidden. Easy to drink a number of these in a night (except for the ABV). Notes: A nice BSPA, not quite at the level of say Duvel, but a good solid example. Well balanced with some tripel and saison flavors (not as many as other complex BSPA). A tasty easy to drink beer. Definitely recommend trying this if you can find it. May not blow you away but it is solid, tasty, and will disappear faster than you may hope.

Clear light golden body with lasting head. Aroma seems a little sweet, pear, lemon and a little butter. Taste took a little bit getting used to for me but drank alright after that, pear and lemon, alcohol, bitter, light in body finishes dry. Got into it but not at first.
