3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mikkopen (481) - Oulu, FINLAND - APR 23, 2011
Bottle at Oluthuone Kaisla, Helsinki, 18/03/2011. Hazy yellow colour, thin white head. Fruity sweet, spicy, slightly sour aroma. The flavour is honey-sweet malty, fruity, with a mildly spicy, hoppy finish. Medium-bodied, moderately carbonated. Quite tasty, but too sweet and simple to be really memorable.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 FudgeSociety (243) - Florida, USA - APR 18, 2011
This is for all intents a purposes a tripel style ale. One of the beers where the yeast has most changed the flavor, but not in a bad way. There is a slight hop presence and sweet banana and belgian spices. Quite a nice beer.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 onlyrocknroll (365) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - APR 16, 2011
Wow, I’m surprised to see some of the lowish rating here, I think this is a great beer. Surprisingly restrained for its abv, very elegant and very tasty.
Pours hazy bright orange with a large proud head. Lively aroma of caramel, spice, some warming alcohol and an impressively robust dry hop bitterness. Well balanced and complex flavour, the sweet caramel malt just loses the struggle with the dry bitterness, especially at the finish. Peach and esters also. Full body and soft texture.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 scottw86 (835) - Maryland, USA - MAR 30, 2011
Poured a hazy yellow color with a huge foamy off-white head. Lots of bubbles, looks like it might have over-carbonated a bit. Lemon and spices in the aroma. Taste has lemon and fruits. Slightly sweet with yeast flavors. Slightly doughy with bread notes as well. Some light spices and some tart flavors come into the finish. The alcohol is hidden very well. Finish is a little dry and crisp. Overall very tasty and good.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ComradeK (466) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - MAR 29, 2011
330ml bottle. Pours a cloudy golden yellow, with a large white head, good retention but minimal lace. The aroma is an odd mixture of yeast notes, sweet spices and honey. It smells a bit like gulab jamun dumplings, in fact, for those who know what those are. It is quite hoppy to begin, with lemon zest a prominent flavour. Honey comes in soon after, followed by a touch of candied orange peel. The finish is as smooth and sweet as muscat. This feels quite well made, and it is quite a complex brew, but it is just a bit too sweet for my tastes.
