3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Marko (2977) - Split, CROATIA - JUN 13, 2009
Bottle at the Belgian Brasserie Henry, shared with ogivlado. Poured a murky golden body with a medium sized head. Walnut in the nose, malty with some light alcohol. Interesting. The taste is remarkably light for the strength, malty and nutty, notes of coriander and orange. Subtle. Good beer but it didn’t impress me as much as it should have had.

Pours bright gold into a shaker. Bright white head recedes to skim surface. Candi and malt aromas. Bottle had a lot of carbonation, but beer is not overly so. Sweet malts upfront with a dry pepper finish.

cloudy dark murky yellow with a huge creamy white head. fresh herbal, hoppy, grassy, yeasty aroma. flavors of yeast, lemon, candy sugar, butterscotch, and herbal hops. maybe a touch of mint. good but no surprises. a typical strong belgian.

750ml bottle @ RBNAG’07. Almost clear golden body with a foamy white head. Aroma is malty with a typical Belgium sweetness. Flavor is harmonic sweet malty, sugar, herbal fruitiness and yeast with a well balanced warming alcohol. A certain amount of bitter/acid in the finish save the overall impression for becoming too sweet.

Very nice strong Belgian blonde, like Duvel with an extra kick. Deep golden to ruby body with a huge, slowly dissipating head. Some sweet malts, perhaps a bit too much (particularly as the beer warms), but a healthy dose of dry fruits, spice, and grassy hops. Good stuff.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Strykzone (2906) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - NOV 24, 2007
Body is a light golden color. Head is explosive with retention. It reminds me of shave cream. Aroma is floral, fruity, and sweet. Flavor is citrus, bready, and acidid. It is sometimes sweet citrus and other times the citrus is tart. It is a bold flavor but a smooth and sweet one. Alcohol is clearly present and provides warming. A very nice beer on a Winter evening.

Good beer. cloudy amber pour. Dark fruit, caramel malts, some candy sugar, nuts, orange, and some spice. It’s alright, not among my top, but I would drink it again. too expensive though.
