3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 wedgie9 (1361) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 5, 2010
Reviewed from notes. Tasted from bottle. Pour is yellow with a fluffy white head that displays excellent retention and lace. The nose is baked bread with candi sugar sweetness and Belgian yeasts. The flavor is yeasty with sweet pitted fruits, some bitterness, and a pretty intense alcohol burn. The body is full and thick with heavy carbonation and a long, hot finish.

Though clear this bottle has thousands of little pieces of sediment rolling around in this a carbonated beer. Has some lager like aromas with belgian yeast and sour orange. Strong alcohol flavor with honey and orange. Rather bitter and a bit astringent. Kinda rough for my palate.

Bottle at Le Poechenelkelder (or how you spell it :P) in Brussels. It poured a slightly hazy liquid with a white head. fruity and yeasty taste and smell with a fairly lean mouthfeel. Nice, but doesn’t stand out.

Bottle, thanks to Cole. Pours hazy yellow-gold, medium white head, spotty to good lacing. Nose is sherbet lemons, lots of spice here too, similar tpo the Piraat beers, but loads more going on here. Nice banana, lemon, pepper, ginger, malt, and lovely spicy/fruity esters from the yeast also. Flavours of spicy/sweet lemons, banana, cotton candy, rather sweet, very tasty. I’m not normally a fan of blonde Belgian Strong Ales, but I know what I hate. I don’t hate this.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 henrikb (1317) - Aarhus, DENMARK - MAR 6, 2006
UPDATED: APR 20, 2006 25 cl bottle, 2002 consumed 3/2006 – Golden, with a thick lasting white head; Nose is still very fresh and incredible soft, not citrus-fresh, but fresh like hazelnuts right from the tree. This nose actually has somewhat the same notes as a fat young vintage champagne; The body is soft, thick and a little oily, the great carbonation makes it fresh; A long fresh super hoppy (the Belgian way) finish last long and becomes a little alcohol sweet in the end. Greeeeeaaaattttttt beer! DE LANDTSHEER - RULES! (75cl bottle, 1999 consumed 4/2006 More or less same nose just more hoppy; body and finish, much more hoppy and quite dry. Even greater then the 2002)

330ml bottle. Pours a clear golden with a medium white head that sticks around and some lacing. Aroma is a nice apricot and spice, along with floral hops and some alcohol. Taste is citrus and peach over a light malt with a mouth puckering bitter and dry finish. Alcohol is present in the finish. Crisp and smooth, medium body, with medium carbonation.
