Bottle 330ml from Plonk. Great, "yeasty" beer. Aromas of butter and citrus, with hints of vanilla. Taste is sweet, with touches of sourness, and long-lasting bitterness. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Yellow, with a frothy head.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Heathen (1241) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - JUN 13, 2008
THOUGHTS: I’m really behind on my rating. I had this one back on Leap Day. Not awful, but not one of the better Belgians I’ve had. A little too metallic for me. It was kind of like a more syrupy Duvel, but not quite as nice.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a hazy, light to medium yellow with a huge, white head that kept a thin sheet. The aroma was moderate yeast, white wine and fruit. The initial flavor was lightly to moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic and lightly bitter; while the finish was moderately sweet and heavily to harshly bitter with and average to long duration. It was fruity and yeasty then there was tons of metallic hop bitterness. The medium body was dry with fizzy carbonation and a metallic and light alcoholic finish.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 roder60 (1234) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 10, 2007
Pours a dark yellow orange hazy color with an absolutely huge amount of froathy billowing white head that literally fills my trappist glass to the brim. Looks absolutely delicious. Aroma comes right after you very strongly: tart citrus fruits, banana, dough, cloves, some slight toffee to round it out. Flavor is definitely honeyish and sweet, banana, and a bit of earthiness. Heavy mouthfeel. Overall, looks and smells better than it tastes, but still pretty decent.

Bottled. Beer is slightly murky light gold with a large/huge, frothy, white, diminishing but lasting head.
Malty with light notes of toasted grain, cracker; Moderate (hint peppermint) herbal lemon—slightly vegetal; Yeasty with moderate notes of basement and barnyard, light note of dough; Moderate spicy alcohol, trace of vanilla extract.
The flavor is moderately/heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter with a long, warm, moderately sweet, trace acidic, lightly bitter finish. Alcohol is very stealthy.
The body is full, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively.

11.2oz bottle in a tulip. Pours deep, cloudy golden with a fluffy, off-white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, caramel malts, floral hops, and a little alcohol. A typical Belgian ale with more alcohol than most. Smooth, thicker texture. A really good beer.
