3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cornfield (5239) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - APR 15, 2007
UPDATED: APR 16, 2007 This pours a clear, very pale yellow body with lively carbonation and a dense, fizzy white head. It smells of sweet pale malts, hot spices, yeast, and a lemon twist. Very lively and peppery on the tongue. It’s a crisp Champagne-like drink with the malty sweetness retreating beneath the lemon and pepper flavors. A touch of funkiness makes it all that more interesting. Nice crisp & dry finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ernest (5113) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 22, 2003
UPDATED: JUN 10, 2007 750mL bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, most lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma moderately malty (toasted grain/bread), lightly to moderately hoppy (herbs, flowers), lightly to moderately yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with light notes of lemon zest, pepper, and Juicy Fruit gum. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly
alcoholic. A good, clean, strong golden ale. Nothing flashy or adventurous here, but for a strong golden ale it’s exceptionally clean smelling/tasting and frighteningly quaffable (amazingly well-hidden alcohol). Would easily put this up against nearly any 9-11% Belgian golden...some may have more exciting aromas, but few are so elegant and efficiently put together.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Hildigöltur (5107) - København, DENMARK - JUN 10, 2004
Golden coloured. Classic golden Belgian strong ale aroma and flavour. Lots of fruits and some yeast. Earlier Rating: 6/3/2004 Total Score: 4.1 75 cL. bottle. Best before 2003. Cloudy golden coloured with good curtains. Nice aroma. Hoppy and grassy with loads of pears. The flavour is bitter, mature, hoppy and dry and at the same time fresh and flowery. Notes of grass and hay as well. Long, hoppy aftertaste.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 jbrus (4989) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - JAN 2, 2002
Citrus and spicy aroma. Amber/golden colour, lots of foam. Very full. Hop, malty sweet, citrus and spices. In the finish it burns in your throat and becomes a bit more hoppy.
