Goodgrief (993), Middletown, Delaware, USA Apr 14, 2008 Pour was a dingy straw color with huge amount of suspended sediment, a huge head and decent lacing. The aroma was fruity like a trippel with some mild grassiness. The flavor smacked you upside the head with sweet fruit and honey, strong bold alcohol, enormous amounts of yeastiness, lots of peppery spices, some mild grassiness and a good bitter finish. Good level of carbonation. I really enjoyed this beer. Nice!
Pompey (8), Longmont, Colorado, USA does not count Jun 30, 2008 Lovely aroma of malt and fruit. Moderate tight lace, but not that carbonated. Wonderful mouth feel and the blast of peach and malt are really enjoyable. Sweet but not cloyingly so. Not too many spices, just fruit, malt, and some lingering sweetness. Long enjoyable finish. I like it. 330ml bottle, which seems to be a fine presentation. No sediment. Alcohol not discernible. Quite enjoyable medium body Tripel with a fruity malty finish. Not a complex Tripel. Just an easy drinker. FatTony (92), Augusta, Georgia, USA Jun 28, 2008 12 ounce bottle- poured out the typical hazy light yellow of the Belgian, head was stark white and incredibly thick. Aroma was citrus. Taste was fair to good, but there was a very unpleasant acidity to this brew. The acidic nature of this beer made it hard to enjoy fully. I’ll skip this one from now on. Heathen (451), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jun 13, 2008 THOUGHTS: I’m really behind on my rating. I had this one back on Leap Day. Not awful, but not one of the better Belgians I’ve had. A little too metallic for me. It was kind of like a more syrupy Duvel, but not quite as nice.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a hazy, light to medium yellow with a huge, white head that kept a thin sheet. The aroma was moderate yeast, white wine and fruit. The initial flavor was lightly to moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic and lightly bitter; while the finish was moderately sweet and heavily to harshly bitter with and average to long duration. It was fruity and yeasty then there was tons of metallic hop bitterness. The medium body was dry with fizzy carbonation and a metallic and light alcoholic finish. kidmartinek (644), austin, Texas, USA Jun 8, 2008 Ripe banana cloudy golden yellow. 2 inch head settles to /14" rather quickly. Tons of carbonation and sediment present. Smells like weak alcohol, and yeast and some barley. Flavor is rich malt, and yeast. Texture, a bit rash. Finish is alcoholic, dry, and yeasty. trapez (168), Hilleroed, Denmark Jun 5, 2008 Bottle 0.33 l. Bought Humletorvet Slagelse. Pleasanr sweet fruity aroma filled with flowers. Pale unclear yellow colour with high white head. Flavor interesting an pleasant, although I can’t figure it out for sure. Sweet, high alcohol and some hops. Soft full-bodied mouthfeel.
