4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 NicerInPerson (337) - North of Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - SEP 29, 2007
The aroma was earthy peppery and lightly citrusy through the large bubbled moussy head. Pepper and a light tartness led the charge followed by sweetness and spice, light spice, coriander and perhaps cinnamon and clove. The beer poured clear golden with large globulous particulates into the chalice, a bit on the gross side but probably my fault in carrying the bottle. The flavor was nicely done with a sweet start which quickly dried out with pepper and a bit of menthol. The hop bittering was well achieved and even a bit of spicy hop flavor came along for the ride. The finish was just dry with a lasting impression of sweet malt and light spice into the aftertaste and beyond. The body was just above medium and the carbonation level was very high leading to a creamy impression on the palate. The warming post consumption was very high, yet the beer did not exhibit strong alcoholic tendencies in the aroma and flavor. A really nice Belgian Strong Ale! 750 ml corked and bailed bottle. $8.99

Bottle, relatively fresh.
Pours a nice gold, fluffy head, plenty of floating matter. Nice spicy belgian yeast aroma, dry, orange zest, a drop of honey. Lovely tripel-style taste, lots of honey flavor but not overpowering sweetness by any sense of the imagination, turning to a nice hop-driven close. Plenty of that spicy yeast, the beer is another herb-garden-in-summer delight, honeybees buzzing around, sunshine beating down, full but not sticky on the tongue, very little sign of the 10% alcohol.
I’m quite positively impressed. This one surpassed expectations by a nice margin.

Reviewed 6/1/2009 (bottle BB end B88 B89, some gunk under cork, on the mouth, cleaned off):
Pours a golden yellow colored body, some cloudiness. Huge white frothy head, diminishing, with good lacing. Light, floral, sweet aroma. Fruity like pears and apple juice. Some maltiness too. Dry sweet taste. Not overly strong, but some good flavor. Some light maltiness. Sweet fruity and floral taste. Some sharp bite, maybe the alcohol. Hides the 10% very well, though. Strong carbonation. Some spiciness, and a little alcohol as it warms more in the aftertaste.

Pours bright gold into a shaker. Bright white head recedes to skim surface. Candi and malt aromas. Bottle had a lot of carbonation, but beer is not overly so. Sweet malts upfront with a dry pepper finish.

Bottle. (As Millenium 2000). [vintage 1999]. Bought @ Kulminator, Antwerp. Hazy orange with loads of small particulates. Head is light bubbly and thin. Aroma is sweet malty, a little port, light vinious. Extremely oily and low carbonation. Flavour is sweet, sticky, caramel, very vinious and warms all the way down. Light spicy finish. Great to try this aged.

Bottle at Monks Cafe. Poured a cloud blond color with a small white head. Was obvious from the first sniff that this beer was very well carbonated, almost champagne like.Interesting hop nose and flavor. Seemingly light but with some nice notes and a nice dry finish/
