33cL bottle, BB March 13 2009, overflowed my Gulden Draak snifter on 7/30/07. Yeah so after desperately trying to induce foam on my last 2 beers tonight, I try the same trick with this Malheur. Big mistake. Big Huge rocky white foam just erupts into my glass spilling over and forcing me to suck a little foam. I let it die down a little and proceed to pour a beautiful muffin top-like head above the wonderfully golden colored beer. Smell is ripe fruit with rock candy and a slight notice of herbal hoppiness, everything I look for in a great Belgian blond. Flavor is a fantastic balance of malt, sugar and hops. Seriously, this is up there with Duvel for the "Most Deceptive Use of Alcohol in a Belgian Golden Ale" award. Color me surprised, I was fully expecting a banana tinged syrupy mess with this.

Sample from bottle at RBSG Montreal. Luscious opaque gold, full of floaty black bits of yeast, capped by a lasting cumulous cloud that laces a bit as it fades ever so slowly....big farmy-sour nose, overripe sunheated lemons and limes interacting with freshly cut pine boards, hibiscus and perfume, just gorgeous...the mouth feels honey stickiness and perhaps a touch of maple, pepper towards the end and cotton-candy...but strong alcohol is a bit overpowering at the end and keeps this just on the edge of greatness...overall, still, masterful, and probably my best of the fest.

This Belgian strong ale has a cloudy, golden color with a big, rocky, white head that is fully lasting. The aroma is fruity and spicy with some hoppiness and a mild, malty sweetness evident. It has a medium body with lively carbonation. The flavor is nicely balanced between the intense fruitiness, maltiness, and hoppiness. Apples, pears, and apricots all are evident in the flavor. The finish is long and fruity, with a nice, floral hop burst. The alcohol is well hidden. A great ale!

33 cl bottle. Appearance: Light golden and hazy, very sizzling white head. Aroma: Very flowery and fruity overwhelming hops, hints of citrus. Flavor and Palate: Fruity, sweet and fizzy. Has a dry finish and at the end of the glas it was slightly bitter. Overall ’a wolf in sheep’s clothing’. You would not expect such a nice and light beer when knowing about the 10 %.

Golden hay color with a rich, white head. Yeasty, banana aroma. A great looking beer for sure. Just an amazing beer. Sweet and sticky bananas lightly spiced with pepper.

Rating # 1500. I carried this back all the way from Belgium, only to see it locally a few weeks later. Very much like a tripel. A big beer, but very easy to drink. Aroma has considerable yeast and fruit. It reminds me of Tripel Karmeliet. Flavor has salt, but also sweetness from sugar and fruit, and light spice. I do get a little coriander and just a hint of citrus. A very nice looking beer, with a cloudy gold color and tall white head. I am impressed by this brewery.

Citrus and spicy aroma. Amber/golden colour, lots of foam. Very full. Hop, malty sweet, citrus and spices. In the finish it burns in your throat and becomes a bit more hoppy.

Bottle, from jbrus. The main word that comes to mind when thinking of this beer is S-P-I-C-E, and I'm not talking about a sattelite TV channel. Golden color, huge head. Spice, Luby's rolls, and yeast all prominent in the flavor. Dry, clean finish that leaves you wanting more. Nice!!
