2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
2 years ago i had this beer and it was nice and hoppy, more hoppy than a regular Belgian tripel.
However I had this beer from draught two weeks ago and all the sudden I was reminded of Leffe tripel, one of the more sweet Belgian tripels. So I wondered if it was just the draught version, so I ordered a bottle. Slightly better, but still not as how I remembered it. Now it’s just dull, sweet and a lot of alc. Not even a shadow of the former Malheur 10.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Nutty deep mahogany with a generous rocky light tan head. Wonderful aroma of nutty sweetness and a gentle bit of coffee. Wonderful complex flavor featuring rich pecan like nuttiness, gentle coffee, light cocoa nibs, dark stone fruit, toffee, and earthy sweetness. Amazing.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Heavy tripel with stable, snow white, irregular head and pure golden blonde colour with vivid sparkling. Aroma of apple peel, grass, star fruit, honey, young creamy cheese, eau de vie, lime, mint and white grapes. Fresh fruity taste with dry ’citrusness’, strong carbo, nicely rounded with sweetish and lightly caramelly malts, spicy accents, long and dry finish with drying effect from the CO2, appetizing grassy hop bitterness and some gin-like alcohol almost becoming astringent. Another Malheur excelling in decency.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a semi hazy golden body with a thick head. Sweet malty aroma. Creamy malty taste with a strange finish (might be because this bottle was a bit old)

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Hazy yellow with big white head. Gusher. Aroma is spicy belgian yeast, banana and citrus. Spritzy and Vinous palate. Aftertaste is spicy, banana, yeast and lingering alcohol finish. Overall: Well made, but also boring. Too alcoholic and lacks complexity.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
33cl bottle served in a La Trappe glass. Pours a light amber colour with a nice frothy, white head which lasts throughout the drink. Aroma is sweetness and hops with a hint of dryness. Taste is sweet with a harsh alcohol burn. Certainly does not hide its ABV well (especially considering Westmalle Tripel is only 0.5% weaker - and my reference of tripels and easy drinking). Overall not a classic Belgian Tripel. Too sweet, boozy and generally overpowering.
