4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: APR 9, 2016 Poured into a taster showing deep dark caramel close to a port wine with a finger of tanned foam.
The nose shows rich, deep oranges with sweet citric sweetness. Extremely decadent and rich yet attractive nose; nothing like it. The nose smells so naturally fruit forward; a blind whiff would probably mistake it for a wine or something.
The palate is full bodied and well carbonated. Flavors of deep rich and full candied oranges with an alcohol spiciness disguised in orange zest. Light and dangerously drinkable despite the high ABV, a bottle should be shared unless you have a sweet tooth.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 5, 2016 33cl bottle, served in tulip glass. Poured a very dark brown with a one finger light brown head that dissapated pretty quickly. Aromas of licorice, cherries, dark fruit, raisins, dates. Taste: very unique, there’s dates, raisins, licorice, toasted bread, sticky toffee pudding, vanilla, dark fruit. Like most Belgian beers it’s heavily carbonated. There are some vinous qualities to it when it comes more to room temperature. A medium to full body with a nice fruity and bittersweet finish. Overall a very good, complex and badass brew. Bravo!

330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB 23/04/18
Murky brown bottle, holds a dense tan head.
Aroma quite rich - dark rich toffee/sugars, plenty of clove, pepper & savoury spice, dark fruits & raisins.
Thick, creamy & velvety, warming, really nice.
Luscious body - sweet sticky dark caramels, vinous black plums, raisins, chocolate, Porty undertones. Reasonably sweet, finishes dry.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle. Dark pour with ruby highlights, large persistent foamy tan head. Lots of dark fruit aromas - cherries, plums, figs, with toffee and spicy and herbal hop notes, some alcohol. The taste also has the plum notes, currants, toffee malt, a little nuttiness, boozy warming alcohol sweetness. Good hop bitterness in the finish to balance the sweetness. Medium to full bodied and not too sticky. Really good after dinner sipping beer.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle, february 13th 2016. Brown body with white head. Aroma is malty, crisp, almost pilsnerlike with about no yeast esters, surely this can’t be right in a quad? Taste ups it a bit, spicy with dark sugars and bread, alcohol warm finish. Marzipan finish. Lacking a bit.

Pours dark brown to dark copper with a one finger high, beige, head.
Nose: Sweet caramel malt, a sour note, citrus, orange, chocolate, red berries and yeast.
Taste: Fruity and malty. Brown sugar, plum, prune, raisin, herbal notes, apples, bread and a bit of chocolate.
Mouthfeel: Full to medium body. Thick and creamy yet fresh! Nice carbonation. The ABV at 11.5 % is perfectly hidden.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33 cl bottle@home in Trappist glass@approx 10 degrees C. Pours dark red brown with large beige head with good retention and lacing. Malty, fruity aroma. Surprisingly mild and with a clear whif of fresh laundry. Deep, dark taste dominated by roasted and caramel malts without much hops. Liquorice, plums and chocolate. Aftertaste filling, sweet, dark and much more bitter than the taste. Here the alcohol becomes noticable. Well balanced winter sipping beer, but 12% alcohol does get to be too heavy for my taste after all.
