4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 poisoneddwarf (881) - Rathdrum, Idaho, USA - JAN 5, 2012
11.2 oz bottle. Pours opaque muddy brown with a large beige head with nice retention; leaves a little lace. Aroma is yeasty dough, dark fruits, caramel. Taste is sweet and meaty with a faint bitter finish. The alcohol hides itself well. Carbonation is average, body is medium to full, mouthfeel is syrupy. Not bad.

1/4/12. 750mL bottle thanks to Blazer06. Unsure of the age... marked best by 15/4/11. I heard they have a 5 year dating system, but the cork says 2/08. Who knows? Dark brown pour, some reds, with a small tan head that fades. Surprisingly light aroma that shows a bit of light grapes, sweet dark fruits, and even a touch of booze. Sweet, fruity entry that shows dark fruit, more grapes, dusty grains, and a bit of alcohol. Quite nice.

Draft at Mekong. Deep reddish brown of antique mahogany, with nary a wisp of head. This drinks as you’d expect it -- super rich with brown sugar character. 12% is not evident at all. (#4424, 12/31/2011)

750ml cork and cage. Light haze, deep chestnut in color. Tan head wwith a full three inches of foam. Fruit dominates the aroma, vanilla, raisin, fig, rum cake, spice. Palate is lush, big mouthful, some sweetness. Flavors of dark rum, raisin, fig, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Some rum in the finish but otherwise clean. Nice Quad.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 mnoud (27) - Martinsburg, West Virginia, USA - DEC 30, 2011
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2012 12oz bottle in pint glass. Pours an opaque brown or very dark red. Small active head quickly dissipates with no lacing. Clumps of presumably yeast are evident. Aroma is very sweet and inviting. Taste is good and alcohol is well hidden for 12%. This is my second Malheur 12 and while I enjoy it, it is quite sweet, it would be hard to drink a lot of this. Very malty. Good, I like it, but it will be an occasional treat not a mainstay.
