Very lively out of the bottle. Almost black in colour. Powerful aroma with malts and lots of alcohol. The alcohol in the flavour is very much a warm and soft sensastion and works well against the overall maltiness of the beer. The thick texture adds richness.

25cl bottle. clear brown, thick small light brown head. aroma is slightly sour, spicy, yeast. the sourness is slightly too dominant. flavor is spicy, faint malty sweet, alc can be tasted. faint caramel, very faint toffee. after warming up the beer gets way better.

Bottle from Root Cellar. Poured clear brown color with a large frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Aroma was complex sweet malty and yeast. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet dark fruit flavor with medium sweet with small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout brew.

7/16/2009: The best description that I could come up for Malheur 12 was PLUM. It dominates both the aroma and flavor. However, there are other complexities as well. The aroma also contains dark fruits, concordish-like grapes, and even a bit of cocoa butter (white chocolate). The also has dark fruits, hints of chocolate, deep grape, and a cocoa finish. This beer is moderately sweet and as a medium body. Its texture is smooth and fairly soft despite the volume of visible carbonation. Overall I really liked this beer and enjoyed its intensity.

750 ML corked and caged bottle (Alc 12% By Vol. / Best before end 15.04.11 0330071) shared by Tmoney99. Rating #313 for this beer.

dark ruby-mahogony color, with a medium tan frothy and creamy head. aroma is dried dark fruits, spice like clove/coriander, and estery/yeasty dry roasted candi sugar malt. flavor is more roasted candi sugar malt, rummy raisins and spice, figs with some dry hoppyness and a bit tart. reminds me a bit of De Dolle brews. a bit of brandy and spice in the finish.

bottled in Cafe Frape in Mestreech. Dark brown color, with thick head, Nose has yeast and fruits. Aroma is yeasty again, with the hint of fruits Quickly followed by malts. very nicely composed beer with a trick - the 12% is hidden perfectly.

Overall one of the best strong beers I have ever had. It has a very balanced flavor with a slightly sweet finish. It packs a punch on the ABV scale but the taste does not come across as such.

Dark amber with a frothy, beige head. Raisins, almonds, and maple nose. Sweet, dark, and hoppy with caramel, floral, and oak notes. An outstanding, balanced beer.
