33 cl bottle@home in Trappist glass@approx 10 degrees C. Pours dark red brown with large beige head with good retention and lacing. Malty, fruity aroma. Surprisingly mild and with a clear whif of fresh laundry. Deep, dark taste dominated by roasted and caramel malts without much hops. Liquorice, plums and chocolate. Aftertaste filling, sweet, dark and much more bitter than the taste. Here the alcohol becomes noticable. Well balanced winter sipping beer, but 12% alcohol does get to be too heavy for my taste after all.

Look; fawn head, dark brown body with carrot notes. Aroma; very mild, caramel, fruity hops. Taste; caramel, juicy fermented peaches, apple, malted candies, yeast, leaves, grass - finish is malty grassy fruity caramel. Mild again. Feels natural, fruity. Overall a tasty sipper. Blackish brown color. Highly carbonated. Fruity aroma, some raisins, dark baked bread, cinnamon, cloves, and alcohol. No hop aroma. Rich creamy body. Very malty and phenolic. Good balance of sweetness to bitterness (more phenolic bitterness though, there is only a touch of hops in flavor). Taste of dates and rum. Strong acidity around the edges. Very hot though (it is 12% alcohol. Good for its strength, but surprisingly not harsh. Very good.

Pours dark brown with big, longlasting, tan head. Aroma: caramel, coffee, honey, raisins and red fruits. Taste: high sweetness with low bitterness. Finish is a little dry with notes of chocolate, coffee, coriander and red fruits. Very boozy. Texture is oily. Carbonation is very lively. Lacing is good. Just like it’s little brother, a very good beer.

(33 cl bottle from Belgisk Bryg) Poured at fridge temperature into a Rochefort goblet reveals a dark brown body with two-finger fluffy tan head. Good retention and some lace. Aroma is toffee and a bit of booze. Oily texture, fizzy carbonation, light body and an astringent slightly tart finish. There’s definitely the Malheur yeast at play here giving the beer the well-known cremant quality. I like it better in their Brut though. Flavour is has a toffee sweetness, which is balanced off well with a tart hint. I find however that the carbonation makes the body appear too light to be pleasant for this dark beer.

Bottle at home. Poors dark brown, big foamy head, that dissolves into a thin head quickly. Nose moldy, yeasty, spices. Aroma is nutty, toast malt. Floral and resin hops. Spices and Belgian yeast represent. Also some dough, autumn leaves, chestnut, maple syrup. Brown sugar, alcohol. Some nice complexity going on but too brown sugary/alcoholic to really hit my charts. Carbo is low but spikey due to the high abv.
(CocaCola + hops + vodka) - vanilla = Malheur 12
