4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle. Dark pour with ruby highlights, large persistent foamy tan head. Lots of dark fruit aromas - cherries, plums, figs, with toffee and spicy and herbal hop notes, some alcohol. The taste also has the plum notes, currants, toffee malt, a little nuttiness, boozy warming alcohol sweetness. Good hop bitterness in the finish to balance the sweetness. Medium to full bodied and not too sticky. Really good after dinner sipping beer.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle, february 13th 2016. Brown body with white head. Aroma is malty, crisp, almost pilsnerlike with about no yeast esters, surely this can’t be right in a quad? Taste ups it a bit, spicy with dark sugars and bread, alcohol warm finish. Marzipan finish. Lacking a bit.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33 cl bottle@home in Trappist glass@approx 10 degrees C. Pours dark red brown with large beige head with good retention and lacing. Malty, fruity aroma. Surprisingly mild and with a clear whif of fresh laundry. Deep, dark taste dominated by roasted and caramel malts without much hops. Liquorice, plums and chocolate. Aftertaste filling, sweet, dark and much more bitter than the taste. Here the alcohol becomes noticable. Well balanced winter sipping beer, but 12% alcohol does get to be too heavy for my taste after all.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Blackish brown color. Highly carbonated. Fruity aroma, some raisins, dark baked bread, cinnamon, cloves, and alcohol. No hop aroma. Rich creamy body. Very malty and phenolic. Good balance of sweetness to bitterness (more phenolic bitterness though, there is only a touch of hops in flavor). Taste of dates and rum. Strong acidity around the edges. Very hot though (it is 12% alcohol. Good for its strength, but surprisingly not harsh. Very good.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours dark brown with big, longlasting, tan head. Aroma: caramel, coffee, honey, raisins and red fruits. Taste: high sweetness with low bitterness. Finish is a little dry with notes of chocolate, coffee, coriander and red fruits. Very boozy. Texture is oily. Carbonation is very lively. Lacing is good. Just like it’s little brother, a very good beer.
