Belgisk_Olklub (221), Viby J, Denmark Apr 30, 2008 Bottle (2005), 25 cl. Small, creamy, dark, diminishing head with spare lacing. The body is cloudy and dark brown. The malt aroma is heavy with toasted and coffee notes. Also nice aroma of plum, licorice, wine and port. Heavy in alcohol. It has a full body, a creamy texture and a flat carbonation. The flavour is heavy sweet and light bitter. A good powerfull and fruity beer.
chimaybier (34), Livermore, California, USA Aug 22, 2008 Was given an 11.2 oz. bottle- and it’s a Friday! The pour: rich, head collapses quickly due to it’s high alochol content. The color: deep, dark, almost stoutish in color. The bouquet: very ripe plums, baker’s dark chocolate, with nice roasted malt subtleties. The palate: toasty, malty, a rich creaminess and pepperiness at the same time. (Not easy to achieve in a beer!) The finish: wonderful lingering malt finish. This is a wonderful beer. I have had their tripel, and it was fantastic as well! Palidor19 (1276), Brandon, Florida, USA Aug 21, 2008 HOT DANG!! really malty with sugar, spices and caramel. good consistisy with the palate. this is for an after dinner drink nick76 (2030), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 21, 2008 The aroma is cereal malt, yeast, fruit, and spice. The appearance is medium red/brown with with a large head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall pretty good. fishingnet (803), Brandon, Florida, USA Aug 19, 2008 Rating #800. Bottle. Pours a dark brown amber with a large tan head that that leaves good lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, sweet caramel, and yeast spice. Taste is the same as aroma with a hint of roasted malt. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and very well hidden alcohol. Very good. jcr (833), Jasper, Indiana, USA Aug 10, 2008 Updated: Aug 11, 2008750ml bottle. This is fruity, sweet and lightly musty and very easy on the palate which means it is easy to drink, especially for a 12% beer. Still, there are some off flavors, including the taste of pencil graphite, that drag this down. Beautiful pour — hazy dark brown body with a huge, fizzy beige head. The aroma is filled with esters of prune, overripe plum and banana, Notes of mustiness and a hint of peppery alcohol. Some floral notes creep in along with toffee and syrup. The flavor is heavily sweet and lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately acidic along with a light bitterness — plus the sweetness sticks around. Medium to full body and lively carbonation. Watery texture at first, turning to syrupy. Too heavily sweet (along with that graphite taste) keeps this from being an excellent beer. Still, quite good.
