COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In a country with beers named after the Devil, or called "Sudden Death", one called "Misfortune" (Malheur, in French) is just another wry jest. The beer itself is no joke. On the contrary, it is an inspired beer. Malheur is made in a new, revivalist, brewery.

Cloudy yellow color, big white head. Aroma of citrus, bit yeast, grain and spices. Spicy and dry taste, bit crisp, quite yeasty, some citrus. Well balanced, not very explicit, but nice belgian ale.

Citric nose of grapefruits and lemon. Yeast in it. Hazy, yellow coloured with a lasting, white head. Taste is sweet, yeasty, citric, some hops. Typical blond ale. Bit dry, but refreshing. Well brewed but not really special.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2004 Golden, somewhat hazy. Has a fresh aroma from citrus and oranges, some yeast and dough. Flavor is hoppy and quite strong. Some alcohol comes through, and the beer has a long finish.

Light gold and orange in colour with a small white head. Aromas are mellow citrus fruit, pears and spices. Flavours are mild fruity malts, pears, with spices - just like the aroma. This has a good sparkle to begin with, later it gets a bit "sticky". Not that complex.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2007 (Draught@Erasmus, Bruges) A scoring update with a few notes: a bit acidic, subdued but present hops. Harmless but quite ok. Should get better points from a bottle. (Bottled, rated 6/2/2004, was 5-3-6-3-12=2.9) Hazy, golden color. Small, slim head. Light, fruity aroma. Medium-sour, fruity flavor. Carbonated, medium-bodied palate. Not irritating, but nothing special. [update Feb 11, 2004: Must re-rate this, as Malheur 8 and 10 were so damn good!:)]

Big frothy head. Gold orange color, cloudy. Just a hint of citrus, some hops and some yeast both in aroma and flavor. Orange with just a bit of caramel. Dusty and an upcoming winey flavor.

I actually quite liked this one. Flowery and floury. Malty, with some nice lightly sour citrusy hops, lightly yeasty, some oats.

Clear blond beer with a big white head. The aroma is rubber, urine, fruit and some hop. Light bitter hoppy taste. Rather dry bitter finish. Long dry aftertaste.
