COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In a country with beers named after the Devil, or called "Sudden Death", one called "Misfortune" (Malheur, in French) is just another wry jest. The beer itself is no joke. On the contrary, it is an inspired beer. Malheur is made in a new, revivalist, brewery.

Pours hazy golden color with a small head. Aroma of ripe fruits, citrus, caramel malts and toffee. Flavor of caramel, some toffee notes, mild spices, yeast and ripe fruits. Decent.

Where Malheur 12 is one of my favorite beer, this is surprisingly boring. It’s just an ok beer, nothing special about it. Pretty much like a pilsner but twice the price getting a smaller 25 cl in return.

Small bottle of 250 ml, at home, poured into a tulip glass. ABV 6%. Pale orange golden in colour, with a huge three fingers head, white and soapy. Very good retention, no lacing around the glass and very little activity in the glass. Not much of an aroma actually, some spices, orange peel and yeast, but all of them faint. On the taste, malty grainess and a fair amount of hops, average bitterness. Too much of the malts flavour if you ask me. As it warms up though, that flavour retreats and others are advancing, like the light citrus flavour for example. Medium on the body with average carbonation. Overall, not a bad beer, but nothing exceptional either.

Aroma is somewhat sweet with citrus, some honey and distant floral notes. Flavour has soapy citrus, honey, some spices and yeasty notes. Refreshing & decent.

Bottle from a store in Belgium. Fruity and yeasty smell. Similar taste. Refreshing and nice to drink, still some interesting flavours.

Bottle 25cl, a cloudy copper beer with huge head and good retention. Nose is on yeast, oranges and peppery hops. Aroma is fruity on the lemon and orange side, dry feeling, peppery hops, light raisin, grassy. Very long bitterness duration on aftertaste, good beer.

250ml bottle. Pours light gold with a large head. Aroma is nothing. Maybe some lemon. Taste is the same, some carbonated water and light yeast on the finish.

Little late rating this one as tasting book mislaid for a while.Sampled at Brussels Belgian Beer Weekend on draught.Poured an orange colour under a smallish white head.Honey sweet aroma with a touch of hay or straw.Easy drinking beer with fruit and honey flavours. Some background spiciness.

Bottle: Medium to bigger vast and slow disappearing or changing white head on top of a hazy yellow colored beer. Smell peach, grains, some hops, citrus and light creamy. Taste is a pretty smooth mix of hops, citrus, malts, light warmth, some spicy tones, crispy yellow fruit, light yeasty, light bitter, some creamy tones, some creamy grains, orange and floral herby hop tones. Aftertaste is bitter with yellow fruits, floral hoppy grass tones, some yeast. Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, medium body and a light creamy texture. I think those Malheur beers are pretty good, but those ugly labels...
