COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In a country with beers named after the Devil, or called "Sudden Death", one called "Misfortune" (Malheur, in French) is just another wry jest. The beer itself is no joke. On the contrary, it is an inspired beer. Malheur is made in a new, revivalist, brewery.

A hazy golden ale with a thick lacing white head. A pleasant honey and orange pulp in aroma, with lemony character, and yeast. In mouth, a nice hoppy belgian ale, with strawy character, light sweet and mineral notes, a bit of a creamy mouthfeel. Medium bodied. Bieropholie imports. BB 21-09-08.

Tap. Pours hazy straw yellow with a medium, fizzy white head, short retention with good lacing. Aroma is hay and straw malt, barnyard and earthy notes, and apple/pear esters. Flavor is malt forward with medium esters, light hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Light body and warmth, medium carbonation.

330ml bottle (Poirotti, Helsinki)
Pale cloudy orange, healthy tight head. Big tomatoes and then honey aroma. A touch perfumey. Very simply sweet plain light malty body. Quite dull, actually. Nothing actually wrong with it, but no guts, no highlights, no bite. I want more of a crisp hop component to my blondes.

pivnizub (8853) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - DEC 12, 2009
Bottle: Hazy, pale golden to golden, small foamy layer, lazy carbonation; shy sourish-fruity nose with a hayish-hoppy background; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied; gets much hoppier and more spicy towards the dry bitter-tart (and fruity) end. Weak overture, pleasant finish.......

Bottled. An orange coloured beer with a good white head. The aroma is yeast, peppery and lemony. The taste is more of the same and is very well balanced between the three. Tastes fresh and slips down very nicely.

(33cl bottle) Hazy, golden colour with a big and dense foamy white head. Yeasty and sweei pale malty aroma with light notes of citrus, a tinge of honey and spicy herbal hops. Bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied with a calm carbonation. Pale malt-character with restrained fruity notes; almost dry and a bit astringent hop bitter finish with herbal spice. Good, hoppy stuff (26.IV.09).

Bottle at Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. Golden colored beer with a nice white head. Smell and taste ok, bit watery texture.

Light gold and orange in colour with a small white head. Aromas are mellow citrus fruit, pears and spices. Flavours are mild fruity malts, pears, with spices - just like the aroma. This has a good sparkle to begin with, later it gets a bit "sticky". Not that complex.

Rune (8044) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUN 10, 2008
First beer at a drinking and eating session at Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen. 250ml bottle. Hazy, blond body over a lasting, white tophead. Nice spicy aroma with hints of fresh fruits. Light spicy flavour supported by clementines and nettly hops. Touch of yeast to the end. Moderate sweetness (30.05.2008).
