COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In a country with beers named after the Devil, or called "Sudden Death", one called "Misfortune" (Malheur, in French) is just another wry jest. The beer itself is no joke. On the contrary, it is an inspired beer. Malheur is made in a new, revivalist, brewery.

Bottle 25 cl. Pours hazy golden in color with a creamy whitish head. Some fruityness and summer meadow mixed with bready notes in aroma at first. Quite soft mouthfeel. Bit of breadyness, citrus fruityness and bitter herbal notes in taste. I do like this brew, as it seems to be very well balanced on the whole. Leaves one with a slightly bready, floral meadowy and lemony juicy aftertaste. Actually this one was quite a good Belgian ale, liking the breadyness and fruityness in this one.

Clear golden color, white head. Sweet, fruity nose, almonds, marzipan, present Belgian yeast. Fruity, malty taste, Belgian yeast. Medium body, moderate to high carbonation.

A pale golden yellow coloured beer with a frothy and thick white head. A light, dusty malt smell, biscuity, then a tropical fruit hop aroma with a hint of spice. Medium-dry mouthfeel. A dry, biscuity malt taste to start, but this is only brief, it is soon taken over by a tangy tropical fruit hop flavour, with pineapple, banana and citrusy grapefruit and lemon. There is a hint of clove and cinnamon spice, reminiscent of a wheat beer. The finish is long, tangy fruit along with the spices.

I actually quite liked this one. Flowery and floury. Malty, with some nice lightly sour citrusy hops, lightly yeasty, some oats.

Misty spritz with a creamy head of froth. Sourish, citric nose with some of the skunky hops/metal of a cheap bottled Belgian Pils. Some piney hop notes sneaking out as it warms. Sugared, but developing a respectable hop bitterness. Smooth, lacy, fruity. Certainly a trace of the apple/grape-like house fruitness. Delicious bready afters. Hoppy, malty, fruity, complex....confusingly good beer.

From bottle. Sweet pilsner malt aroma with a lot of citrusy and slightly acidic tang in the nose. Good hoppy quality, with some yeasty esters and mild gaseousnes. A bit of bitterness, too. Hazy medium yellow-amber, topped with pillowy foamy white lacing head. Medium bodied with heavy carbonation, fizzy. Starts fairly sweet with light pale sweet malty flavor, sugar, mild citrus acidity, yeasty funk, and a bit of hop bitterness. Light spicy notes, too - a bit of clove. A bit heavy on the tongue but really drinks easily. After is sweet and a bit fruity with some residual bitterness and a bit of chalky character. NIce Belgian ale.

Bottle at Cambrinus in Bruges. Pours gold with a white head. Nice fresh fruit smell and flavor, but there’s some herbal hop. Light and pleasant.
