corby112 (679), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 9, 2008 Pours a cloudy golden color with bubbly white head. Crisp fruit aroma with spice and hops. Extremely quaffable considering the high ABV. Crisp fruit flavor of grape, apple and pear, champagne yeast with a nice creamy texture. Excellent! AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA May 8, 2008 Clear pale lager color and fizz. A mostly dry earthy yeast and pale malt aroma. Has an expansive, foaming busy mouthfeel. Taste is dusty pale malts, musty leather with a light medicinal essence. A dry, high octane Euro lager here. Very smooth and easy drinking. The 11% is well cloaked. bhensonb (4189), Woodland, California, USA May 2, 2008 750 ml. bottle from Monument in Concord, CA; BBE 01/01/2009. Opened as a mild gusher. Aroma of lighter stone fruits augmented by citrus with a touch of sour. Light, slightly hazy, orange tinged gold color with a finely bubbled, but humongous white head. Medium bodied with very smooth and creamy carbonation. A light sweet start, bit of citrus, some flowery hop, some mild spice, passing candi. With time the light sweetness passes and barrel wood arrives. Finish seems well balanced, and the heat is hardly noticeable at the back of the mouth. nuplastikk (1161), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 1, 2008 Updated: Jul 7, 2008750ml bottle. Best before 30-6-08...drank 1-5-08. Foggy golden straw color, very bright. Lemony tart aroma. Big and lasting foamy head. Wow. This beer is awesome. Light and frothy while still displaying all the desirable qualities of a Belgian Tripel or Blonde. Exceptionally smooth body. This beer managed to live up to it’s 20+ dollar shelf price. Great stuff...100% recommended. mirjukka (695), LOHJA, Finland Apr 27, 2008 bottle 750ml at Gallows Bird Espoo 32 euros
poured to Duvel glass by waiter
Color:hazy dark yellow nice head sparkling
Taste: unbelievable symphony of perfume like hops, citrus, flowers bit sourness and alcohol level well hidden. I am speechless again. First time tasted this few years back. rajendra82 (698), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Apr 25, 2008 I found this 2007 version on sale at Green’s at an unbelievable price of $10 a bomber. I guess good things do come to those who wait (a year).
The cork was easily extracted, and as soon as it was freed, the beer started to foam upwards in the bottle. The process continued in the Duvel tulip glass, forming a big foamy head occupying half of the space. The beer itself looked cloudy, pale golden, and airy. The aroma was very yeasty and bready, and some floral smells lingered on. Tasted peppery, sweet, musty, and phenolic and semi dry. The alcohol was well hidden and I was surprised to glance up at the listing to see 11% put up there. Not as clean as I would have liked in the finish as some metallic bitterness lurked in there. Airy and creamy in the mouth. A bit too rich for my waller at the regular price, but the sale was sweet indeed. daniele (1645), Italy Mar 26, 2008 chiara schiuma abbondante e molto persistente profumi lievemente erbaceidi luppolo poi dolci dolci in bocca ben bilanciata non molto aromatica ma fine rederic (1787), montréal, Quebec, Canada Mar 25, 2008 Slight cloudy blonde hue, with an off-white head, yeasty champagne-like fruity nose of subtle lemon, grapefruit, green apple and pear fruitiness, with a hint of wild yeast funkiness, some mild honeyed pale malt accents, a note of herbal, floral hop citrusy, with a kind of lemon lollipop aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, mild zesty, sweet honeyed pale malt character, with a faint wet oakiness, a subtle funkiness accent, with a some candy sugar, candied lemon peel notes, a nice flowery hop citrusy accent, within a warmth mouthfeel, leading towards a malty, lemony, warming, leafy bitterness finish.
