Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jun 26, 2007 Bottle at Hopleaf, BB 6/30/08. Poured a clear paler golden with a medium cap of creamy white head and sticky lacing. This had a strong, peppery, tripel-like nose to it with sweet pils malt and grains backing it up.. dried floral hoppage accents it well.. very faint darker fruits emerge as this approaches room temperature. Flavor had a creamy pale and pils malt base with lighter fruits and lots of peppery spicage.. some cloves in there too.. rich and very tasty! Creamy on the palate with.. well.. champagne-like carbonation to it.. long spicy finish gave a great final impression. Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA Jun 22, 2007 Dark straw with abundant white head. Clove, fresh cut grass, a nice tart yeast aroma, all wrapped up in a creamy whole. Bright warming clove flavor. Lots of bubbles and fairly forward alcohol presense. A really nice beer, though just a touch aggressive. Imbibed in the excellent company of Fin, Loz and Traci. Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jun 22, 2007 Bottle in the company of Doppelganger, Tracey and Loz. Poured with the most lively white amazingly frothy head that gently subsided to reveal a soft hazy, lemon coloured beer waiting below. The aroma was instantly spicy and with a dash of yeast and sweetness was very alluring. The taste rather took me by surprise as it was a fierce explosion of complex, bittersweet flavours led by the spices, yeast, and sweet malts. Whilst the flavour lingered for some time the intensity soon waned, and whilst this is indeed a very good beer I felt the expectation was never quite lived up to. SoLan (1369), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 20, 2007 Clear yellow/gold. 1cm of dense, white foam. Nose is spicy, skunky, crisp, grainy, lightly musty, lightly floral. Similar flavor. Medium/full body, well carbonated, dry finish. Pretty good. hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Jun 9, 2007 Updated: Jun 21, 2007Jimmack shared this bottle at Dickinsonbeer’s place. Golden in color, with a very high amount of carbonation, and a very long lasting white head. Aroma is very yeast driven, a bit of must, bread, spices and light fruit notes. Taste: lightly yeasty, with notes of bread, fruity with soft apple and pear, a moderate amount of spices, with a lightly hoppy finish. Although carbonation is high, it’s not prickly or abrasive. excellent. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jun 9, 2007 Thanks to Jimmack for bringing this over to share. Pours a nice clear golden yellow with massive soft carbonation, intense beading, and a long lasting fluffy tight white head. Aroma is doughy, fresh pils malts, lightly floral and estery with some restrained phenolic spiciness. Light yeasty flavors, with tons of doughy fresh pils malts, super smooth sweetness, light nuts, herbal hops, and a clean lightly hoppy finish. Smooth as hell, and some of the softest yet intense carbonation ever, with just a touch of alcohol at the end. Very refined, and so different from any other belgain strong ale. This is great stuff. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 8, 2007 Bottle from State Line sampled with Beerded one. Pours pale golden with a large white fluffy head. Aroma of flowers or soap, sweet malts, and yeast. The flavor is sweet, spices, floral hops, smooth for an 11% brew. Good body, good brew. oh6gdx (8799), Vasa, Finland Jun 5, 2007 Bottled.
