TheEpeeist (1430), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 22, 2007 Malheur tasting at the Monk’s Café in Philly. Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Clear honey yellow with a frothy white head. Yeasty pear nose with a touch of wood. Champagne body with a nice sharpness. Yeasty sweet citrus, apple, hay, candi and some peppery coriander. Subtle and sophisticated. beermouth (434), Langeskov, Denmark Feb 27, 2007 Slight unclear yellow with a nice white head. Very fruity taste of orange, lemon, grape but also peach, yeast and champagne-like taste. Quit dry finish. redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA Feb 12, 2007 Aroma is citrus and alcohol. Pours light gold with a giant frothy head. Citrusy, minty, malty, with a good bitterness, aftertaste is like corn flakes a little, but soon turns to alcohol. Very good but its no DEUS! MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Jan 22, 2007 Sample at Barley Island tasting Jan 20, 2007 - Aroma is champange, bready yeast, Euro hops and lemon. Pours yellow with tons of cascading bubbles, a big fluffy head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma but is a bit milder with a rusty water aftertaste. This palate. I didn’t find this very interesting or complex. Jerre (1755), Waregem, Belgium Jan 11, 2007 Bottle, 75 cl. Light hazy golden colour with a very big white head. Malt with coriander, herbal spices... In mouth, a tingling spciey malt with good coriander, hops. Nice bitter and dry end. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Jan 1, 2007 (750ml bottle, BB 15-06-2006) Pours a cloudy orange body with a frothy white head. Aroma of mustiness, orange peel, and chardonnay grapes. Flavor of malt, light citrus, spicy yeast, hops, and toffee with a soft mouthfeel and dry, somewhat bitter finish. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA Dec 30, 2006 A towering, pure white head sits atop an interesting looking light orange body, then rolls over the edge of the tall chalice. Aroma is of fresh oranges and nectarines, subtle hops, champagne yeast, more yeast(bready this time), mustiness. Flavor is surprisingly complex, not surprisingly dry, from start to finish. Hints of hops precede notes of dessert wines(vidal icewine, champagne) and honey. Long and lingering dry finish, the driest of the Malheur products I’ve tasted. Descriptors don’t come easy with these beers, I think the methode champenoise enshrouds the subtle characteristics in secrecy, but I like it. Yummy. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Dec 26, 2006 Bottle @ Kerstbierfestival 2006 in Essen, BE. Dark yellow / golden color with a good white head. Aroma is heavy malty, lemon, apple, paer, vanilla, alcohol. Flavor is heavy sweet, bitter with a long duration. finish is dry.
