4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750ml corked, green bottle. Best before date is 01/012009. Pours pale lemon yellow, hazy. Two fingers worth of airy but sticky foam on top on first pour, settles slowly to a fine tight bubbled layer on the surface, some creamy lacing. Yeasty, faintly funky aroma with sweetish honey/lemony notes. Fairly hoppy in the mouth, citrusy notes, sweet malt, some funk. Crisp, dry finish with some yeast aftertaste and some lingering grassy hops. Super bubbly, effervescent, medium body. 11% alcohol remains well hidden. Great presentation, only sticky point about this beer is it’s price, but I can justify it every now and then.

New years "champagne" 2014. Golden with nice champagne head. Aroma fruit, floral, hay. Taste sweet fruit, floral, hay. Has the same hay aroma/taste as Westvleteren 6 and 8. Same yeast? Medium/full body, champagne sparkling. Alcohol well hidden.

It looks exactly as it should, champagne like, clear golden with lots of bubbles. Sparkling. Dry beer with some vegetables, dust. Feasty and special.

What a fine beer, so dry and rich. Loads of yeast, esters, floral notes and a long finish. Grains are simple but hefty enough to balance the punch of the beer and the strategic use of hops, which are golden and mellow.

Honey, cereal, grainy, extremely malt forward. I had expected a bit more sourish flavor to this. Not bad at all, but not as I expected.

had a tasting glass of this version. pours a blond colour with a 2-finger white head. malt, lemon, big smell of yeast, same comes back in the taste. and a bit to sweet for it’s style. interesting beer. but for me de deus brut des flanders is the winner.

From a 75 cl bottle shared at home. Pours a cloudy gold with a massive off white head. Aroma of belgian yeast. Flavors of caramel, candi sugar and a hint of butterscotch. Very effervescent mouthfeel. Smooth slightly sour finish.

Skunked all to hell. Skunky aroma, skunky flavor. I could maybe see some greatness hiding in the background, but it was overwhelmed by the bad Heineken assy smell coming off of everything. Drain pour. Unfortunate.
